Keane to sound 'Chronic' on new album

The love-in between hip-hop and indie bedwetters continues apace - Keane have suggested rap veteran Dr Dre could be a massive influence on their new album.

The Sussex trio are set to get the G-funk following drummer Richard Hughes' admission that he's a big fan of the hip-hop legend, renowned for slipping from the minds of motherfuckers.

Hughes said: "I've been listening to people like Dr. Dre for a long time, I think 2001's a ridiculously amazing record and its probably the most played thing on my iPod."

"I love the sparseness of that, and the last record was really dense, it was full of stuff.

"So maybe we'll try something that's as empty as possible. There's certainly elements of that that you could experiment with.

"You could try and be more minimal in your approach with instruments and try to get a bit more funk in there. We'll see! Or it might just be a rock album - you know, I don't know. But yeah, we're going to try and do something different."

You kind of sense he got cold feet somewhere in that last quote.

Hughes added that the band are unlikely to start work on the new record, the follow-up to last year's Under The Iron Sea, 'til after Christmas.

I can see it now.

Dre rapping over one of their songs. MAGIKKK.

Now thats comedy!

"Chronic"

As in "... indigestion"?

CRUNK AS FUCK

KKK?

*shakes Head*

...

Chronic as in listless, lazy and doesn't go anywhere.

^ditto

how the fuck is 2001 sparse? its Dr bloody dre! not RZA!

Eh?

"I love the sparseness of that, and the last record was really dense, it was full of stuff."

What the hell is he talking about? 2001 WAS the last Dr Dre record.

their last record

I think he means

"So maybe we'll try something thats as empty as possible."

I hope so. Like a blank CD. Now that would be a good move.

I wanna see Tom Whathisface

Do a rap. Possibly about all the various metaphors that come to light when he noticed the shape of his face.
If he does this, I will coin it as "nu-indie." In fact, why don't I know of any bands that do shit rapping over the top of dull Elton John piano? It should be the worst thing ever.

Tupac

"why don't I know of any bands that do shit rapping over the top of dull Elton John piano?"

Uh, Ghetto Gospel anyone?

Yawn

Artist people on DiS don't like says something about artist they do like. Lots of puny indie fists shaken at screen.

It must be Tuesday.

One thing's for certain...

None of those fuckers in Keane will ever make a ho a housewife.

can't be done. end of.

excellent!!

can't wait for this bomb to drop, Keane have gone from strength to strength and a bit of G funk will really pave the way for Gindie!! A MOVEMENT I HAVE BEEN SUPPORTING FOR A WHILE NOW!!

look at the photo

three completely boring guys stood in a field.

BORING

Damn! Beat me to it!

...Great minds and all that

yeah yeah

and coldplay were going to be influenced by kraftwerk on their last album

yawn

sparse...

musically 2001 is very sparse. wot u lot on about. its minimalist funk-hip-hop.

riiiiight

And Kanye was influenced by Franz Ferdinand. It was so obvious on Late Rego.

Compared to

Keane's sustained mush, 2001 is as sparse as a concrete prison camp.
I'm trying to imagine...Da-Da-Da De-Da...Mr Tee-Oh-Double-Emm
