The White Stripes have turned down an appearance in a GAP advert worth an estimated $1million.
The band, who've just signed to UK label XL in a deal rumoured to be worth up to £1million, said that they were approached by the high street fashion house to get involved with their latest television campaign, which includes the likes of Daft Punk, Tricky and Duran Duran.
Lead singer Jack White said: "The Gap wanted us to be in a commercial and we said 'no' and everyone said, 'why not'? It's almost as if, if people are willing to give you that much money, you are insulting everyone you know by turning it down. People's opinions about selling out seem to have changed over the years."
