Freeheat go into Retox...
oappleby by Ollie Appleby October 4th, 2001
Outafocus Recordings has unnveiled its third release for the fast growing label - the debut EP from London based quartet, Freeheat.

Freeheat were conceived in the last months of the 20th century when Jim Reid - founding member of the legendary Jesus and Mary Chain - hooked up with former band mate and guitarist Ben Lurie bassist Romi Mori (formerly of the Gun Club) and drummer Nick Sanderson another Gun Club member and frontman with Earl Brutus). The band have now also confirmed live shows for November which culminate in a headline appearance at London's Mean Fiddler on November 29th. A main support act will be announced shortly.

The depth of the EP 'Retox' is evident from the opening track 'The Two Of Us' - a driving duet from Jim and Romi crashing along with it's lifting killer chorus that you just can't shake. 'Facing Up To The Facts' is a full-on rock dirge that's overloaded with guitars and vocals, which is perfectly counter-balanced by the beautiful breadth and space of the sublime 'Shine On Little Star', and the laid back fragile acoustics of 'The Long Goodbye'. The EP's depth comes full circle with the blissed out workout of closing track 'Nobody's Gonna Trip My Wire'

November live dates confirmed as follows:

26th - Leicester, Princess Charlotte - (£5.00 in advance)
27th - Glasgow, King Tuts - (£6.00 in advance)
28th - Leeds, New Roscoe - (£6.00 in advance)
29th - London, Mean Fiddler - (TBC)
