Oxford loses the Point
After weeks of speculation, it has been confirmed today that the Oxford Point will close on the 27th October. The Point has played a crucial role in breaking new bands local and not so local including landmark gigs by the Strokes and the Rock Of Travolta this year alone. The decision was made by Six Continents breweries (formerly Bass) who plan to convert the venue into a sports bar.
Speaking on the Nightshift website, local music guru Ronan Munro said 'this is a really fucking shit day for local music... it looks like there's nothing we can do now... but we can at least try and embarass Six Continents. You could call them on 0121 558 1481 or fax them on 0121 558 1747. Rick Nicholls is the man to ask for. Ask him - politely obviously - why he's doing his... every phone call and letter is important.'
You heard the man.
