Dead soles: Joy Division trainers, obviously

There are some things you just don't - or can't, really - put together. The soul-shattering post-punk of Ian Curtis's Joy Division and trainers are two such things, to my mind. Especially when those trainers are the swag sort that get hundreds of unlucky kids bullied in playgrounds up and down the country every year.

New Balance are the brand that are attempting to commission a pair of 'Joy Division trainers'. Designed by independent American artist Dylan Adair, the kicks feature the ripples from the sleeve of Unknown Pleasures on their sole.

They are also embossed with the legend 'FACT 10' - the album's catalogue number upon its release through Tony Wilson's Factory Records in 1979.

They haven't made it into shops just yet, though - the green light is yet to shine its noble approval on this particular product. Anyone here thinking of paying for a pair?

J_S wants some!

goddamn

dis news is sooooooooo slow nowadays.
and yes, i do!

why

do cool trainers have most of the design on the sole these days?

It's achingly hip

until you're hopping about on the back patio trying to clean off some dog poo with a hose and a stick.

I think the album cover design is fantastic

and looks good on pretty much anything... except trainers.

play nice

you don't have such a magnificent beard to protect you anymore.

OVEN GLOVES
