Former singer with The Delgados, Emma Pollock, is heading out on a solo tour this month. In fact, it's already started! This is what happens when you go two days without e-mails working properly...

Pollock's debut solo single, 'Adrenaline', is out through 4AD on May 21, as a seven-inch and download. Expect her debut album later in 2007.

and was a bit unimpressed

I don't hold out massive hopes

for a Pollock solo effort.

What was so fantastic about The Delgados was how their vocals overlapped, switched and harmonised. It kept their music exciting and fresh.

I think an entire gig or album of solely Pollock singing would be quite tiring on the ears.

Saw her at the westport on sunday and it was awesome, the new stuff is pretty much Delgados-esque but a little more simplified. 'stripped down' if you will. I'd agree with the preference for the boy/girl vocals but I think you'd be trying too hard if you couldn't get in to her new stuff. It was sad that not more people turned up to the dundee gig, hopefully the glasgow one tonight will be pakt.
