Like rock music? Then we bet you'll like U2. These old hands at all things rock are working hard on a new album. You're gonna love it!
Recently knighted (but not really) singer Bono - a charismatic frontman with neat sunglasses - has left the talking about the band's new album to his enigmatic guitarist, The Edge. Yeah.
Said The Edge to Rolling Stone:
"We're working on new songs and getting lost in the music. I don't think we're going to try and think too much about what we're going to do with it yet, we're just going to do a lot of writing and just see what gives.
"We're giving ourselves the luxury of just working on the songs. There's some amazing things coming through."
The Irish rockers are working with the acclaimed Rick Rubin, who made Johnny Cash relevant even after he was under a pile of dirt. Good on you, Rick. Way to show those alive people how to sell records.

I've got no qualms with U2
They've got plenty of decent albums to their name so I'm not going to sit here and rip the shit out of them.
to be fair, i haven't got the new ones.
cos i couldn't bear to listen to their godawful stomach churning singles. but, unless they try and completely erase the last decade or so of music from their brains........... i have no faith :(
i don't like them
never have and i doubt i ever will, but as long as they stay the fuck out of my life, that includes Bono and his 'charidee' work, then i don't care.

The only "moments" I have when listening to the last few albums is of extreme boredom, and the odd moment of complete resentment.
Of course, I don't really listen to U2. I don't even like their old output.

That album's amazing, it gave me lift off when I was but a puppy. Re "the endless U2 debate", despite the last 2 albums being semi - pants, I like U2 and eh... I see no bad bones in that. Honestly! Bono can be a moron, yadda yadda yadda, but the music can be pretty good.

U2 are still around because they have an easily identifiable sound, are all talented musicians, have toured the entire planet incessantly and most of all, WRITE GOOD SONGS. (The horrors, take note) So grouse all you like my indie-shmindie chums, but U2 will still be around in another 10 years time while the high majority of the NME-approved scene-u-like fodder won't have enough musical output for a 'best of' career album by then...

achtung baby, zooropa and pop were all awesome albums.
bono has done more for good with his platform than any musician in the history of the world. thats pretty much undisputable.

U2 are rightfully huge, despite a coupla average albums recently. (City of Blinding Lights still has a beautiful verse)

A lot of people would agree that the 80s albums were pretty decent. But for the last 10/15 years they've just repackaged the same album over and over again.
It's boring. And despite what Bono has done to 'save the world' he comes across as an arrogant cunt.
No one here think they're better than you. So don't be so fucking patronising. Stop judging people so easily.
