DJ and perennial MySpace fave Steve Lamacq is to host a new weekly show on BBC Radio 2 introducing audiences to new music.
In what will presumably come as a shock to cloth-eared listeners of the station worldwide, Lammo’s new slot will fuck shit up by showcasing the cream of emerging talent.
The announcement comes as part of an overhaul of the station’s evening schedule following jazz presenter Humphrey Lyttleton’s decision to cut back his workload.
Mark Radcliffe will team up with Stuart Maconie for his rescheduled late night show which moves to an 8pm slot. Nick Barraclough’s weekly country music show has been axed as part of the shake-up, which begins April 16, although the presenter will continue to front a series of exclusive specials featuring some of the biggest names on the country scene.
In addition to his new Radio 2 slot, Steve Lamacq keeps his shows on Radio 1 and 6 Music. World domination will surely be his by 2010.
