Lou Reed is to take his Berlin album on a trek round Europe this Summer.
The former Velvet Undergound man will begin the jaunt in Brussels on June 18th before stopping off at the Hammersmith Apollo for two nights a couple of weeks later. Reed will be accompanied on all dates by a 30-piece ensemble, including a children's choir and original Berlin producer Bob Ezrin.
"I only do this every thirty years," said Reed. "One time, one time only. You can tell your kids you saw Lou Reed's Berlin."
And you can tell John Cale his old friend isn't playing Fopp instores. Here are the dates in full:
June
18 Brussels Forest National
20 Amsterdam Heineken Music Hall
23 Paris Palais de Congress
26 Berlin Tempodrom
30 London Hammersmith Apollo
July
1 London Hammersmith Apollo
3 Lyon Grand Théâtre Romain de Fourvière
6 Rome Il Parco della Musica
8 Tuscany Arezzo Piazza Grande
Tickets go on sale at 9am Friday (16 Mar).

I've literally been getting into this
as of this week.
It's amazing. amazing. amazing.
Caroline Says pt. 2
The Kids
The Bed
Sad Song
Grimmest last four tracks on any album. But still beautiful.
London though, grrrrr.
The gigs are on the weekend....
if thats any help.
look at those dates.
glastonbury appearance?
wow
very tempting. possibility of ticket prices being extortionate?
possibility
of him not actually playing the date. Like he hasn't done twice now. For me.
He was shit
at Primavera last year but this is BERLIN
i can smell
pigfoots wet pants from here
I like how
this is described as a 'jaunt' as if these gigs will be 'jaunty'.
of course the thing to remember
is Lou Reed hasn't been able to carry a tune in a tin bucket for about 30 years so all the versions of these beautiful songs will be sung APPALLINGLY BADLY.
not to piss on anyone's chips or owt.
good news
though i do worry about the effect of playing the sounds of screaming children will have on a collective audience the size of the Apollo!
