Six By Seven: original line-up reforms

Nottingham rockers Six By Seven - or Six.BySeven if you prefer - have reformed their original line-up.

The following can be read at their website, here.

"The legendary line-up of six.byseven, which made the first two albums, is back together and rehearsing for gigs. Chris Olley, Sam Hempton, James Flower and Chris Davis have buried their differences and will be playing gigs together again and recording new material."

Hurray? Probably, aye - keep an eye on sixbyseven.co.uk (that's the link up there) for future developments.

blee!

I hope it will be good

but I fear it wont!

A very surly band

I certainly wouldn't mess with Chris Olley.

Good

I was just starting to miss them.

'the legendary line-up'

not in a commercial sense sadly, but those first two albums are utterly ace and the line-up change may just explain why the third album was so redundantly average

but really is there any need for a reunion? Aren't they just going to be a bit older and less abrasive? Is that what we want? Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

two of the best british albums of the last ten years

and an absolutey blistering live band when they were on form.

But their last two records have been utterly cack, and I'm sceptical whether they will be able to recreate the live sound they had eight years ago, or whether the new material would be any good just because the original guitarist is back. Also there is no mention of a bass player there.

Needless to say though, I will be going to see them, to either be pleasantly surprised, or indeed slightly disappointed.

Fucking sweet

I loved those first two albums.

Especially 'The Things We Make'. That and Godspeed's 'F# A# oo' where the only things that got me through my student years when everyone else was infested by Travis and Gomez.

the 1st album

haven't heard it in years - so long i've forgotten the name.

AMAZING Album and to see them live around the tour of the album was simply breathtaking. European Me mmmmmmmm

i would

he's a cunt.

how many times

are these guys gonna disband and re-form?

I wish they'd make their frickin minds up.

I quite like the 3 albums of their I own but could take 'em or leave them really. Good luck to them.

Woohoo!!

Great news! And I love ALL their albums.

woot!

I also love all their albums.

Their sound changed a great deal after the first 2/3 albums, but then they did have to adjust to compensate for their diminishing members.
Perhaps their change in direction didnt appeal to all their fans, but nonetheless they were great albums.

I saw Six By Seven perform live as a five piece (with Doggen from Spiritualized on guitar) in August and December last year and boy were they on top form. In fact I would even go so far as to say that their gig in August was one of their best.

It's great to see a band with this amount of determination to keep on fighting for what they believe in.
Its admirable, especially with the state of the way music is today.

they haven't been on top form

since Sam left.

I'm not being a purist, it's true!

maybe

Had Sam stayed then perhaps 6x7's direction might have been different.
Perhaps they could've been greater had he stayed...who knows.
Well, we're soon about to find out.....

ooh...

the tension.

that's not really what i meant

I dont know if the latter albums would've been better if Sam hadn't left.
They just definitely lost the thing that made them amazing, and it happened around the 3rd album.

They're back and seem better than ever..

I saw the reformed lineup twice a few weeks ago and have got to say they were mindblowing. It looks as though the time apart has done them good. They sound stronger than ever.
When I saw 6x7 live in August last year with Doggen on guitar (and Olley and Flower the only original members) it was probably my favourite gig of theirs...Hoever the gig in Nuneaton a few weeks ago has taken over.
Its great to hear all the older songs live again.
Looking forward to more material.

Another show has just been confirmed for 27th September in London with Ulrich Schnauss and Model Morning as supports.
