Idlewild - we like them lots! - are to play two free gigs at a pair of HMV stores later this month.
The band - pictured - are to play material from their new Make Another World LP, due out on March 5, in Edinburgh and Leeds. Dates!
February
26 Edinburgh HMV, Princes Street @ 5.30pm
27 Leeds HMV, Headrow Centre @ 5.30pm
Attendees at both events will have the opportunity to meet the band after their short sets. Perhaps they will sign things!? Actually, yes they will, at something insiders are calling a 'signing session'. Those insiders and their buzz terms. Check with the stores in question for how to attend these shows.
The band's new single, 'No Emotion', is released on February 26. Watch the video on YouTube here.

Oh, this is going to really upset me…
I've just clicked the link and checked out the video… Idlewild really have become quite shit haven't they, which is a real shame because it was Hope Is Important that got me into good music, and Idlewild at Bristol around the 100BR era is still the best gig I've ever been to. No emotion?… kinda fitting.
No Emotion
is utter pish. Woomble sounds like he couldn't give a toss.
They were pretty good at Glasgow ABC the other week, so fingers are still crossed.
A little discouraging !
What a load of total rubbish. I have seen idlewild play almost all of their scottish gigs for 5 years, and they have simply got better and better each time. The new tracks i have heard, "No emotion" and "if it takes you home" are great and the new albulm should be too.
Wildies rawk !
Rodddddddddddddyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Support your local poet - remember that !!!!
Hope Is Important
i don't think they've became shit - perhaps you are stuck in 1998. The band have moved on and maybe you should too.
Supporting Coldplay
I have seen the 'wild 3 or 4 times in varying venues, but whilst supporting Coldplay t'other year at the NEC they sucked major balls
"you drink too much man, you smoke too much"
passion in these lyrics (slightly changed for our booze and smoke uni lifestlye) amongst me and my friends was high. It was one of many tunes sang whilst drunk, and seeing them do it so lamely whilst we were so drunk was a disapointment.
£1 each if you please please dont mention the fact i was at a coldplay concert in an arena.
Make another world
something annoys me about the 1st post, i cant put my finger on it...oh hang on yes i can its that the postee is talking crap. No emotion shows idlewild making a more than welcome comeback with a cracking tune and if said postee wants to hang back in 1998 fine, fuck em. "Hope" is a great record and kickstarted their career but idlewild have matured nicely and shown over the years that they are no one trick pony, if it was still 1998 we would all be banging on about how marvellous and cutting edge oasis are. that was then but this is now and from the album sampler it sounds bigger and brighter than ever. personally i cant wait for Make Another World to appear in the shops or for the tour in march.
I think...
that the new stuff is sounding a lot better than the last album.
Very pleased to see the boys are back to what I consider to be their best after a slight hiccup...
Might be worth ambling down the road to HMV at the end of the month...
They are a great band
Idlewild has grown and matured and some of their fans have not. That happens. It doesn't mean that the band sucks or has sold out. For those of us who have followed them through a bunch of albums, I say that they have continued to grow and expand their music. I wouldn't be listening to Idlewild today if Roddy was still screaming like he did when they started out.
I'm glad...
DiS isn't full of Idlewild haters, like the rest of the world seems to be. I think they've gone from strength to strength and are getting better and better. And to have survived 11 years in this industry, they must be doing something right!
The new album is brilliant, some really really strong songs. Can't wait for the tour in March!
I'll admit
the last album was a tad on the soft side, but for me its the only one of theirs that isnt great and from what i've heard of the new stuff, sounds pretty damn good.
if they had stayed the same angry young men that had made hope is important, ive got got a sneaking suspicion people would be moaning for not moving on and developing.
so ill be there on the 26th of feb!
No Emotion - I think not ! Loads of it
I went to the instore gig last night at HMV in Edinburgh......as usual the Wildies rawked....Roddy voice just gets better and better, especially live.
There was a good few hundred there, all buying the new single and the signing session went down a treat.
No Emotion - great single, anyone who thinks Idlewild are a thing of the past, get real they are sounding more cultured and experienced than ever.....and loads of emotion put into everything they play.
Can't wait for Perth.
:-)
