500-plus bands now set to play SXSW

Over 500 bands are now confirmed to play South By Southwest this March, although the powers that be at the music industry shindig are yet to release an official list of acts performing.

Austinist.com - click here - reports that 503 acts have, one way or anther, confirmed that they are to play the Austin-held event. DiS previously ran our picks for the event when some 240 bands were announced - click here.

Among the British acts due to perform are 65daysofstatic, 28 Costumes, Enter Shikari (pictured), Amy Winehouse, Lords, The Hot Puppies, The Young Knives, Gruff Rhys and Jamie T.

they will probably love them, this is a country that brought you "Atreyu" and "Eighteen Visions" and a host of other wanky "metalcore" bands, that Enter Shikari will be so very pleased to be compared to.

Just kidding. I want to see Black Angels. I wonder if it's going to be one of those press only/record execs + gfs/face guys from popular bands deals. I've heard that it's becoming impossible to get into a lot of shows unless you're connected and/or actually *in* the band.

Anyone know how to find out? It would be worth driving (ok, flying) down there just to see Black Angels. "How I Went to SXSW and saw One Band."

Black Angels

The Black Angels have been confirmed to play the Northern Star Psychedelica Vol: 2 launch party which will be happening in Austin on the fringes of SXSW.

We were the first label to bring them out in the UK, so check it out!
