More Pumpkins? Smashing!

Despite their untimely demise last year, Yank rockers The Smashing Pumpkins have a few new releases on the cards.

Speaking at a concert held in tribute to the band at Chicago's Metro club over the weekend, bald frontman Billy Corgan told fans they could expect 2 new albums and 2 DVDs from the band between now and 2002.

The releases will be a greatest hits compilation / videos DVD; a limited edition collection of out-takes from their last three studio albums - Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness, Adore and Machina / The Machines Of God (akin to their Pisces Iscariot album, which collected together B-sides and rarities from their first two albums); and a DVD containing excerpts from their final gig (held at the Metro) and a documentary on the band.

It seems their Internet-only release Machina II / Friends and Enemies of Modern Music won't be among these, although the band will have soon served their one year exclusivity clause with Virgin Records, meaning anything is possible.
