Klaxons: "Nah" to Wembley gig

Klaxons' Jamie Reynolds has revealed that the London-based trio turned down the chance to support Muse at Wembley Stadium in June.

Reynolds told MTV that Muse's Dominic Howard approached the band personally: "It was the drummer who asked us. It was quite a drunken night down the pub and I just said, 'Nah'. I don't know why, I didn't mean it!"

Whoops! Reynolds continued: "I have watched them from when they first started. I first saw them at Glastonbury and for them to [ask us to support] is a massive compliment."

The band haven't officially turned the offer down, then. Their James Righton said (begged?): "We haven’t turned it down officially and we're trying to sort it out. Please! We would love to play!"

Klaxons' 'Golden Skans' single looks certain to chart in the top ten this Sunday; their debut album, Myths Of The Near Future, is released on January 29. Is it as good as !!!'s Myth Takes, though? Let the battle of the myths begin!

Myths Of The Near Future

I have to say I was suspect, but on first listen I was an instant convert. The production is lush, rather then just being the testament of another indie band with some keys, they've really expanded the sound. Right from the moment Two Receivers comes together after the drum intro the layering is curvaceous and there's just enough polish on the mix. The vocals and drums are perfect.

I thought it was just going to be a compilation of old singles, re-recorded to justify £10. But it's something else isn't it? A proper stonker of a pop album.

Blah, blah blah... Blah.

The real question is: Is Jamie T's Panic Prevention better then Myths?

im kinda disappointed not because i like the klaxons but because we need an average band like the klaxons to go on stage with muse jsut to show people how great muse are compared to...i mean there all right but they probably turned it down cos they know they cant stand up to legends like muse....

I'm a big fan of Klaxons

But I feel the album is rather overproduced compared to some of the early stuff I have.

Not to say I don't like it, I've still to have a 'proper' listen, and to me a proper listen is lying in my bed with my 'phones in at night :-)

Golden Skans in particular, is a LOT more mellow on record than from early demos and when heard live.
If they had just retained the original drum machine, and increased the speed slightly, I would have been over the moon.

Who am I kidding.... I sitll fecking love it!
