Win! Tickets to see new Drowned in Sound signing Brett Anderson
- Artists:

- Brett Anderson »
Drowned in Sound Recordings is very excited and proud to formally announce that Brett Anderson has signed to our independent record label.
To celebrate, we’ve got ten tickets to his sold-out-in-less-than-five-minutes, before-we-could-announce-them shows at Bush Hall, London. The dates for the diaries: March 5th, 6th and 7th. Click here to add a date to your gig calendar.
The self-titled debut solo album by the former Suede front man is released on March 26th via Drowned in Sound Recordings. Preceding the album is the single 'Love Is Dead', released on March 12th.
Talking about the album Brett reveals "In the past I've hidden behind characterization and vignette but I've not done that here. Essentially I have taken a knife to myself and am showing the world my insides. The songs are a comment on how I really feel, whether it be the death of my dad, my hatred of consumerism or just the loneliness of life."
The album was co-produced by Fred Ball, who also uses the nom-de-plume Pleasure; he recently released a single, 'Back To You', featuring Brett on vocals. Brett commented on this track on his messageboard, saying:
"Before the inevitable cries of 'Why isn't 'Back To You' on the album?', I will tell you the story. When I first started working with Fred, the intention was to write for his new Pleasure record. Then we wrote 'Love Is Dead' and a handful of other gems and I got greedy and said I wanted to make a solo album with these songs. Making the album was a hugely enjoyable experience but inevitably, like anything worthwhile, fucking hard work. At the end of it I thought the least I could do was to offer this song to Fred for his record."
To win one of five pairs of tickets and a copy of the Pleasure single, simply send a DiS private message (you must be signed up) to the competitions user (click here) with the answer to this question:
Can you name three other acts on Drowned in Sound Recordings?
Winners will be notified via private message on Wednesday 21st February. Editor's decision is final.

well done to whoever did that, but hopefully he'll do a more extensive, outside of london tour later in the year.
apparently
they have served their purpose for the time being, but "dont be suprised" if they come back in the future.
