Bloody hell! Shields hints at new My Bloody Valentine LP

Guitar-mangling guitar-mangler Kevin Shields - yeah, he makes the mangle noises, outta his guitar - has told Magnet that he sees life in his old band My Bloody Valentine yet, despite the fact that that band have released nowt since 1991's Loveless.
It's good!
"I do feel that I will make another great record," Shields told the US magazine. He added that there would be a new MBV album, one hundred per cent, "unless we die or something".
And: "I'd feel really bad if I didn't make another record. Like, shit, people only got the first two chapters, but the last bit is the best bit. It's just that it's taken me such an oddly long time for that to happen."
Obviously no release date's anywhere near being set, but when it is grown men will die. Their deaths will almost certainly be unrelated to this news, though.
Shields concluded: "I'm quite optimistic about the future, even though experience has taught me that I'm probably just delusional." Mixed signals, much?!

Year of the Punks: F*cked Up on breaking through in '08
that's funny...
cos pitchfork posted this as news too, citing their source as the NME with the same quotes. how very transatlantic.
logicalmike
don't be so bitter-and what a stupid name, I remember seeing MBV on the rollercoasster tour and they were brilliant-check out Miles Davis in a silent way if you are feeling nostalgic for the best ever band on Creation...
Who cares?
News is news.
we shall see...
I think he's after another £2m
cant decide
on whether it'd be brilliant or shit.
but
how fat actually is kevin shields? every time i hear him mentioned (other than here), it's about how fat he is.
!
Hi, my names Thomas, I make a living out of doubting
A new MBV album would be brilliant to hear
Hope it's not the new Chinese Democracy though.
Blowing things out of proportion
He put on some weight for a while (it really wasn't that much), but recent pictures and articles would seem to indicate he has shed the majority of the excess weight.
.
Who cares how fat he is. Hes genuis.
But yeah ill take this news with a pinch of salt
I refuse to buy Chinese Democracy, ever, ever, ever
Delaying, rewriting, recording and pissing about with an album for that long is just gay. Let the Azureus people rape it of sales upon release, just as they do everyone else.
But MBV? Nah, they deserve better, methinks.
When hell freezeth over
then, and only then, will the mystic Kevin Shields finally unleash armageddon with the release of a follow-up album. That said, given that the MBV sound has been aped to perfection by a legion of shoegazing fanatics across the globe (The Fleeting Joys a prime example) they'll probably release a folk album...
hmmm...
I seem to remember him saying the same thing about three years ago...
