Silent Shout, Holy Shout
- Artists:
- The Knife »
It's the end of an amazing year for DiS album-of-the-year contenders The Knife. Having gone from relative obscurity to universal acclaim with their recent 'Silent Shout' long player, they've gone all festive (in a self-promotional kind of way) and decided to give away a free Christmas song on their website. Complete with jingling bells and (er) lonely, ICY synth and (um) distorted SLEIGH-LIKE kick drum, 'Christmas Reindeer' is just the ticket to get yourself steeled for the annual UK Only Fools & Horses rerun festival that we have to celebrate Jesus dying.
(I couldn't figure out a way to include a joke about carving turkeys - suggestions below please.)

This is just Reindeer
from the first album with some sleigh bell sounds over the top. CRAZINESS.
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to say this
But listening again to Silent Shout, i was kind of bored. I'm wondering if it's just a very lush one trick pony...
Er
Celebrate Jesus dying?
A very lush one trick pony?
That seems an odd criticism. Like... you could probably say that about Loveless or something too.
I still think it's brilliant anyway.
What I mean is that the music is really lovely and good
But doesn't have any longevity. It has an exhaustible amount of emotional and musical things to discover from it for me. I still really like it, but the "this is the most amazing, special thing i've ever heart" factor has really worn off.
but they're called The Knife
surely that's an open door for a carving up turkeys gag/pun
for instance...
errm
as you were
also GLAD LUCIA! a big skål to your glögg!
that happens with everything
in my experience. even things like Ys, loveless, aeroplane over the sea, bonnie prince billy. everything.
don't worry
we're not the kind of cruel people who would laugh at your mistakes.
The Christmas Single...
...Usually a turkey, right? Well, not the one carved by this Knife!
Boom, er, Boom?
You might even be able to cram lame ducks in there. And something about stuffing the download charts with sage snippets of Festive wisdom - these guys know their (pickled) onions!
Anyway, I'm off before the lynch mob arrive... *exits pursued by a bear(ded old man dressed in red and white)*
that's worth a lol
it was an elemental mistake. christmas isn't about the death of jesus, but about the birth of the january sale.
any fule kno.
Jesus died ...
... at Easter. He was born at Xmas. I suppose you're going to say this was a deliberate mistake 8=)
