Harp-humping singer-cum-screecher Joanna Newsom - her new album Ys is quite The Good, you know - has announced a one-off London show.
Newsom will play Ys, Don't Look Back style, at the city's Barbican Hall on January 19. She'll be backed by The London Symphony Orchestra.

I went to see her in Bristol last year because I didn't want rubbish seats at the Royal Festival Hall. This year I have to go all the way up to Manchester because it sold out in London before my friends could get organised. I'll be seeing her in Egypt next time by the way things are going.

was aghast to see barbican sold out. was ecstatic to see manchester tickets available today. Ys is ridiculously good, I have no idea how they intend to pull it all off live-how the fuck will she remember all the words? spelunking indeed.
I'm going
just. Apparently we have bad seats. This'll be such a lovely evening, I can't wait to hear the climax to Only Skin.
i'm going
and am salavating as I type.
she's been doing most of the album at live shows
since early last year. I think she knows the words pretty well by now.
