Once they Killer a band, seriously.

Everyone's (well, okay, not everyone's) favourite over-produced Las Vegas pretty boys are preparing to re-release their anthemic indie-gospel fest-favourite 'All These Things That I've Done', making it the third re-released single off their shitloads-selling debut LP 'Hot Fuss'. 'Cos we haven't had enough re-released singles recently have we? Bloody hell.

But in order to reassure you that they aren't just trying to cash-in from festival fever that easily, the band have also recorded a new promo for the single which features Brandon Flowers in the shower. That's right, in the nud. I bet you're quivering at the mere thought. The video debuts on the NME Chart during their July 31st show, so make sure you wear absorbant undergarments.

In other Killers "news", the band will be practicing their devil-horn hand signs this month after being confirmed as headliners for the first American version of the Download festival. As reported on Billboard's website, the US strain of Blighty's previously-monikered Monsters Of Rock will see the Las Vegans headline on October 8th at Shoreline Ampitheatre in California, in what promises to "offer cutting-edge technology and media experiences". So stuff with cellphones, then?

Everyone now: "AH'VE GOT SOOOOOUL BUT AH'M NOT A SOOOOOL-DIER..."

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Pathetic

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

it's properly, nagdammit!

Is that a joke them headlining the American Download?

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

I do love the biased DiS news.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

I love this song actually.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

i had a dream about the killers. i went to watch them at a festival but their stage set took too long to setup so they got replaced by morrisey who i watched from the side of the stage with some terminally ill children.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

from what ive heard the new stuff is pretty good. why not release one of them as a new single.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

This band are truly dreadful. Bargain buckets of the future are gonna be full of this shit as The Killers fans eat their words..

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Because....they want to be around for a loooong time. Well, longer than 2 years anyway. Therefore, if they can milk their debut album for as long as possible, it means they can delay releasing "new" material until people get bored of the first album.

Longevity, innit.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Brilliant, I'm gonna buy 20 copies just so it gets high in the charts and pisses you tarts off.

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

i disagree i can still listen to the album now without getting bored, after getting it early last year (or whenever it was first released)

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

i aint much of a killers fan they aint my cup of tea and for god sake stop with the re-releases and give ur fans summit new

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

I don't what care what you say I fuckin' love The Killers.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

At least they're not The Bravery

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

The reason they keep re-releasing these catchy yet annoying tunes is cos they don't have any others of the same irritably infectious standard. Why did they not wanna headline Glastonbury? My guess is cos they don't have an hour and a half's worth of decent material. The drummer's alright though.

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

I agree with Mr Brainlove. Give me a bit of Bishi any day in favour of the turgid Killers.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Absolutely fucking ridiculous. I like the Killers, but this re-releasery is long beyond a joke. Counting the rereleases, in total that's about 6 or 7 singles from the album. And this one charted pretty highly in the first place didn't it?!! For fuck's sake... *grumble grumble*

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

The whole commercial music business is becoming a parody of itself

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Err...the Killers are rubbish!

Seriously though, though I haven't met Brandon Flowers ever, I will conclude from all I've heard about him and his band that he is a right nonce, and he should be poked with jagged objects until he quits the music industry and works as a cabaret in Vegas, back where he belongs!

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

What is it about that one line that all c**ts find so appealing? Someone near our tent at Leeds last year sang it constantly for the whole weekend.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Oh stop being so sanctamonious just because they arent post rock or the kaiser chiefs who are obviously ten times better. They produce good tunes, ok they re-release them too many times, but this news piece is just pathetic.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

"At least they're not the Bravery" - Damn right!

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

I lurrrrrrrrrrrrrrve the Killers but I don't by singles so I don't really give a toss how many times they release it AND I'm not tired of the album yet so neerrrr :oP.

Am gonna listen to them all the way home now, loud enough to share the joy with all the miserable commuters.

Whoop!

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Like the title btw Thommo. I love DiS news!

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

All the band are trying to do is their jobs, ie. having their music heard by as many people as possible and trying to make a living out of it.

ATTTID is only being re-released in AMERICA where it takes a hell of a lot of promotion for the average guy on the street to hear anything.

As for slagging them off for playing a festie?! What are you insane? That. is. what. bands. do.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

I like the killers, but re-releasing three tracks is just silly.

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

that's it. milk it. miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilk it.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

I like this song, but for fuck's sake - they are quite clearly saying:

- we don't have any more decent songs on our album
- we can't be arsed to write a new album
- give us all of your money. now.

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

I will agree with these points in this news piece. The album is overproduced and they shouldnt keep re-releasing singles(its funny how the kaiser chiefs seem to get away with re-releasing) . But the idea that they shouldnt play festivals and that they are shit is a bit unfair. Also I don't like the mocking tone in the way its written.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

I always think we're enjoying the best music ever, right now. But then this 80s regurgh wouldn't have amounted to shite in the 80s. The Killers aren't the worst band around, but the attention they've received is astonishing. Fingers crossed the lip-gloss on guys thing doesn't take off.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

A scrunched up nose sums up my view on the killers. It really only seems like yesterday that somebody told me was the hottest track around. Seems they've gone out of fashion like the last issue of cheekbone (for anyone who watched mighty boosh lastnight).

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

ahh i get the headline *titter* ...

anyway. All these things that I've done I think is the best song on their album. They are an ok band but HIGHLY overrated it's beyond belief how they manage to become so popular. Everyone who name checks bands always go "The Killers..." *yawn*

They're headlining the american version of Download? Well umm they have to get the right sort of genre first. After this years download I can't see The Killers fitting nicely on that kind of bill. Mind you The Hives have played Download before.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Just...why? I'm not angry, or worked-up, just...confused. Wasn't that song top-ten anyway?

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

"lipgloss renaissance", as i like to call it, is the only reason i bought the killers album.

ok, so i lied. i didn't buy the killers album, i just want the lipgloss.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

first ... killers on download ?
second ... the ozzfest has all the download bands in the US anyway
third ... fer fucks sake write some new songs and release them yr bastards !

(yes iv seen them and own the album, but this is jus stupid)

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Yes, it did alright first time around, but this is AMERICA that it's being re-released in. They generally take a while to catch on to a scene. Now the Killers actually have an audience out there, they're getting some exposure for a song that previously had none stateside. Nothing wrong with that, eh?

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

This is very silly indeed. Considering how much airplay the song got in the first place, re-releasing it is rather idiotic. They have plenty more decent releasable songs on Hot Fuss e.g. On Top.

BTW: The reason the Killers are headlining the American download is that it is a more indie-friendly festival, according to nme.com.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

I hate re-releases. The KAiser Cheifs, The Bravery AND now the Killers are all rereleasing songs weve heard a million times now. Re-releases always get on my nerves. I recon the Killers will be the least likely out of all these one album bands to do a sucessful 2nd album. I'm not saying its a bad song. I just think theyre seriously overhyped

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Didn't they admit that themselves? I'm sure I read an article saying that they turned Eavis down about headlining Sunday because they only had one album's worth of songs so couldn't fill an hour and a half set.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

i thought i read somewhere that that flowers man wanted them to be "like hall & oates". which is very, very scary...

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

pah, what makes it worse is that it's not even the best song on the album. imagine how many times they'd keep batting it back if it was something like 'jenny' or 'midnight show'.

it takes the piss slightly but brandon flowers naked has got to be better than their last shoddy amateur NME journo cameoing excuse for a video. It must be a secret code for bands that are increasingly shit of late - stick Tim Jonze in your video and the NME brainwashes millions of pre-teens into buying the 305874609846098th re-release of your latest single.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

You know what this is don't you? Its a test. To see how stupid we really are...

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

I'll shut up.

Still, the're one of the biggest bands in the world after just one album. They've hardly earned their stripes have they?

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

where did i slag them off for doing a festival?
i don't have a problem with them playing Download, but hairy ol' Hell's Angels might...

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

heh, fair do.
i don't think they're that shit, really, just a bit over-played. i was seriously considering getting 'Mr Brightside' about a year ago but it's worn away it's appeal for me by being so omnipresent...

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

What annoys me most is lazy radio edits. It's a good song on the album... the radio edit is crap.

And I still prefer The Bravery. The Killers album is great singles and a lot of filler. The Bravery's album is consistent. I don't care if they were put together in a factory or whatever. They rock.

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

oh yeah and "seriously" sounds better than "properly" so i'm willing to forsake correctness...

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

oh yeah AND the Kaisers initially got away with re-releasing 'Oh My God' 'cos we released it and it sold out and it meant getting wider exposure, whereas it seems a bit pointless to re-release as previously prominent a single as ATTTID (even if it is only in America), as was re-releasing 'I Predict A Riot'.

or something so yeah uh huh. Hmm.

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Fair enough if you ask me having seen them when they first came over, Its a shame they cant recreate more of their "indie-ness" on record.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

The Killers are on of the greatest bands of all time.

Jenny Was A friend of mine. I think its better than Angels. Don't you?

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

The Killers ain't at all bad. I think this slant on the re-release from DiS is downright ridiculous. Anyone who releases a record wants it to sell and be heard by as many people as possible. So...The Killers label are literally draining every last ounce out of this record, but who the hell cares? I'd rather hear The Killers on the radio than some Bling-bollocks or James Blunt and the re-release trend just makes the UK more like the US when tracks can be repeatedly "taken to radio" to promote an album. It's a shame alternative act (in the broadest sense) like The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Interpol, Bloc Party, The Futureheads have to resort to this in order to compete with all the other shit in the charts...but if this is the tactic that enables them to come out on top I don't think it makes them shit bands.

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Given the fact that about 40,000 people [no kidding] were watching them at T, I wouldn't exactly say they've "gone out of fashion"...

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Completely agree with Browno - grumble grumble. I quite like the Killers too but re-releasing 3 singles is just lame. I hope the band had nothing at all to do with it, but then why haven't they disowned it as a cynical record company move? Cowards.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

ok, time to be constructive.... erm... the Killers are shit?

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

It's not about selling CDs - it's about filling iPods

the old-fashioned 'shelf-life' business model no longer applies

I doubt very much whether the band - or indeed the other re-release bands - have much of a say in the matter. It's a label decision that values profit and marketing above artistic integrity.

so what else is new?

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Isn't that the song they did at Live 8? If it is then they plugged their new single like the scissor sisters what a disgrace burn them etc

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

You sign the contract, you do as you're told. It's a business after all.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Erm , i cant beleive you guys used my line as the headline for this article, very amusing.

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Marco you hypocrite.

That should say: In my clouded opinion the Killers are shit.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

"Bravery's album is consistent. I don't care if they were put together in a factory or whatever. They rock"

I laughed at that for a good, ooh, 16 minutes or so. Comedy gold.

The Killers are good at what they do. But then again, so is gonorrhoea

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Both the Killers AND the Bravery are shit, 80's rip-off pop-indie bands. Thats the truth, take it to the bank, cash it in, go on a holiday...

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

you see, if i ever listened to radio
i'd get sick of stuff
but not listening to radio
i don't get sick of as much stuff
like the killers

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Brandon Flowers in the shower?

Mmmm.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Time for a rant.

I like some of their songs (i.e. the first 7 on their overproduced album). Having met Brandon Flowers and seen them live, i can say he is a twat, and that if you want to recreate seeing them live, go to the bedroom play the album painfully loudly, and invite 60 pissed fat stinky sweaty lager louts and pin up crazed 14 year old pseudo grebs into your room. And you dont have to stare at Flowers patronising the audience with a falsified attempt at a naff performance.

Smile like you.... no brandon. just no.

in fact chew this you corporate munching muscially frigid machines... Art Brut TOTP!!! Art Brut TOTP!!! Art Brut TOTP!!!

p.s. sorry if i caused offence, i really dislike the band. as i say some of the first songs are good tunes in their own right.

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Hear Hear! How many people actually bought the Futureheads album when it came out in September 2004? Not half as many as those who bought it following 'Hounds of Love', which helped it climb to No.8 in the charts.

Singles went as follows:

"First Day" - #58 (UK)
"A to B" - did not chart
"Decent Days and Nights" - #26 (UK)
"Meantime" - #49 (UK)
"Hounds of Love" - #8 (UK)
"Decent Days and Nights" (re-issue) - #26 (UK)

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

They are fucking shite, though, aren't they? Please tell my band and my friends, they don't believe me.

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

"How many people actually bought the Futureheads album when it came out in September 2004?"

At least one.... :)

A To B was a download too, before the download chart...

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Wha the fuck is "Art Rock" anyway, and why is it always described as intelligent just because they dress like stereotypical art students? Last time I checked, art students were thick as pigshit... ...and pretentious to boot, that must be where it comes from. (Present company excepted, sorry, but SCIENCE ROCKS)

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

What, from Big Brother?

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

I got sent a link to that new video ages ago from the mailing list, it's pretty damn good.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

"They're headlining the american version of Download? Well umm they have to get the right sort of genre first. After this years download I can't see The Killers fitting nicely on that kind of bill. Mind you The Hives have played Download before."

By the by, as much as I love The Killers, if Taking Back Sunday weren't allowed on at Download for fear of being slaughtered, I have no idea how they'll manage it.

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

gash. thrice gash. i'd rather a band released all twelve tracks off of their album.

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

Stop it Brandon, just stop it.

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

We have to stop it for him. *Prepares shotgun for Nick Gatfield*

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

haha i love this. i don'tthink that the killers are terrible but for god's sake three re-releases. ouch. band's should release one or two singles and get on with it making more albums or whatever.

Re: Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

heh heh, was same at T in the Park. The line is completely meaningless!!!

Re-releases

I know I'm a bit late on replying for this 'article' but I felt I had to give my two cents worth. The Killers are a good band. I like them, a lot. No I'm not a 12 year old tenybopper screaming at the mere thought of Mr Flowers in the shower (although he is a very attractive man). The reason they had so many re-releases is because of their rapid rise in popularity worldwide. They started here in England. America cottoned on, they went to America and Europe became interested, then Australia and Asia followed suit. All the while the band were busy touring their arses off and so in order to play catch up re-released a lot of their material whilst 'abandoning' their routes to spread Killers love to the rest of the world.
The fact that so many people have bought these re-releases shows how popular they are and no amount of bashing them and wishing that they would disappear into the bargain buckets is going to change that. With Hot Fuss they managed to write a debut which appeals to people of all ages and of all persuasions. Young kids are now becomin interested in 'proper' music again rather than listening to Hip Hop and rap and goddam Britney Spears. Their music is very accesable. There is a lot of hype around the next album and it will be a success.

they did.

it was called the album.

Oh dear.

You were doing so well until the second paragraph.

- Popularity does not = quality
- Just because some music has guitars in it does not make it any more 'proper' than hip hop, rap and "goddam" Britney Spears.
- Hype is annoying.

Thanks.

LOL

i wondered who bumped this.
