What is it exactly that you've done?

Six months to complete an album with simple bass, drums and guitar set-up? A bit of an insult to countless unsigned bands who can rustle up twelve-track albums in a week, c'est non?

umm if drowned in sound are so sick of pete doherty why are you repeating pointless stories like this that are exaggerated for the tabloids?

The Daily Star quotes A SOURCE as saying:

as you can see they get around it by making up exagerrated quotes and attributing them to "a source".

the album is in fact near completion and i doubt the record label are "terrified".

If people read them, discuss them and think for five minutes about something other than their nine-to-five grind, then they are far from pointless.

if the sun decided to start printing scandalous stories about joanna newsom's frequent drug-taking and/or promiscuous behaviour (which, by the way, i just made up), then i'd be first to defend her honour.
i just think pete asks for it rather a lot.

Perhaps that's because most of the news that comes of their camp can be filed under that catagory..?

but saying "doing drugs are great" is to ignore the misery that drugs like crack inevitably cause in the life of whoever becomes addicted to them

A titbit of news re that tour: apparently Doherty sacked the band, and that's why the album's nowhere near finished and the tour was postponed.

I think it'd be better for all involved if Pete now finished the Babyshambles thing altogether and disappeared for a year to sort himself out. I dislike his music, that much is true, but it's so depressing to see a guy day in day out on the verge of absolute self-destruction. He's already a burnt-out shell.

He should be allowed/he should have the sense to go away and get his shit together. Ditch the celebrity girlfriend unless she wants to help him, and get out of the public eye.

The album will never happen unless circumstances change, and the only way they will is if the key protagonist of the piece takes a step back with a clear head and realises what a complete shambles - no pun intended - it is.

I've got nothing against Pete Doherty. I like the Libs and really liked Babyshambles for a while but lately it has just become ridiculous to the point where I can't be bothered to be a 'fan' anymore. It's all become a massive farce culminating in the last few months.

Of course, he's been on crack for years and nothing is new there, but now everything he does is in the Sun and on the net within 5 minutes of something happening. I actually believe he is a genuinely nice bloke, the problem is he is vulnerable, extremely gullible and naive. He befriends and trusts people too easily and gets drawn in to these situations he can't get out of. He needs to go away and come back in 6 months to a year. He really needs to get out of the limelight. The sad thing is - he won't.

I personally don't think this will happen. I'd definately check it out if it did. I think if it showed the demise of the Libertines it would be a very interesting thing to watch.
Not to be a cynic but I reckon its just rumours.
