Oasis to premier new video on Friday

Oasis fans (and we know you're here) take note: the band's new video for 'The Importance Of Being Idle' will premier this Friday at 7.55pm on Channel 4.

The video features Notting Hill actor Rhys Ifans and is shot in black and white. That's art, you know. Noel (pictured) almost certainly thinks it's top.

But is it about Eric Idle? And his great sit-com theme tunes he sings so well? Let's hope so...

This is the one that sounds like the La's? if you buy this month's 'Word' mag they do pie charts for each song on the album to show you how much and which bits were knicked from other songs - it makes you laugh but it also makes you weep that they get paid to do this every two years or so.

Alan Mcgee once said that primal scream should split up - i think in reality he was referring to another band from creation - with a bit of luck his 'mistake' may come true..........and soon!

New video - bothered!

Yeah come on Oasis, hurry up and have the umpteenth brotherly tiff and split up.

You could start another Beatles covers band or summat.

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

Bothered enough to post!

too right i was anyway, you were bothered enough to read my post, so, err, NER.

Oh good, we needed another Oasis argument in here.

We were about due for one.

Excellent news. The Importance Of Being Idle is a cracking little tune. And Liam dressed as Mr Sowerberry complete with mutton chops has to be seen to be believed.

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

I guarantee Oasis will still be making hit records long after Word magazine and their stupid little pie charts have long since faded from memory.

I don't think they've actually written a decent song since 1994 though. Lyla is just bland middle of the road indie. If any decent new band put a single like that out they'd be crucified.

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

....and here we are! The seeds of another 'Oasis are shit/the best band ever to walk the earth' argument destined to run ad infinitum....this sort of fighting talk will attract the_glory quicker than a chief bluebottle to a freshly laid dog turd.

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

The album's rubbish though, isn't it?! : p

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

Lyla is just bland middle of the road indie.

Oasis have never been 'indie'. Oasis spit in the face of 'indie'. Oasis make rock'n'roll pop music and Lyla is a rock'n'roll pop song. Leave all that 'indie' shite to the likes of Belle & Sebastian.

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

And why are you here again?

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

Specifically to discuss music, and if i can berate some Oasis fans along the way then that's a good reason too.

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

Is this what you call berating? Oh dear.

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

No, I call that an answer to your question.

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

Let me know when the berating starts then, yeah? I'm on tenterhooks.

"Lyla is a rock'n'roll pop song."

'Street Fighting Man' to be precise.

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

Only in the same way Live Forever is Shine A Light, i.e. not much.

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

You're right about the tiresome Belle and Sebastian, their hateful cult of twee and the kneejerk snobbery of indiescum - as thoughtless and predictable as the very worst of the mainstream they claim to despise.

But Lyla is still a shit song.

Oasis to premier new video on Friday

dead in the water.

Oasis to premier new video on Friday

when i see an article about a band i don't like, I don't read it, let alone post slagging them off.

Sad, sad bastards...

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

shouldn't that be "SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITE" said in a thick Manchester accent whilst gurning behind a microphone?

Re: Oasis to premier new video on Friday

Good point ^.

Its because its regarded to be more accepted to slag people like Oasis and Keane etc. off. I haven't even read the 65 Days of Youthmovie - Tour article, but I'm betting there's no abuse for them on there.
