5RC label - responsible for Deerhoof, Hella, xbxrx, etc - to close...

Acclaimed indie-rock label 5RC, the rather more avant-garde wing of Kill Rock Stars, is to cease operations.
The decision has been made by KRS, following the move of label founder Slim Moon to Nonesuch. KRS's vice president, Maggie Vail, has said that 5RC will continue with its releases and clear the current schedule, before becoming "dormant".
Among the label's final releases are Barr's Summary (expected in the UK through Upset! The Rhythm) and Marnie Stern's In Advance Of The Broken Arm. A remix album from xiu Xiu may or may not be released via the label.
It's expected that a number of 5RC bands, such as Hella, will be absorbed by KRS. If they agree, anyway. Vail continued:
"We're trying to figure out what we're going to do. We're calming down a little bit and not putting out so many records. We'd like to focus on our bands more."
5RC (website here) has previously released material by xbxrx and Deerhoof. I seriously love both those bands. Love. All exisiting 5RC releases are to remain in print.
This news comes to you via Pitchfork. Show those Americans some love, yo.
