Thom Yorke considers travelling to Japan... by train!
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver October 17th, 2006

It's 'cause planes are bad, innit. Try telling DiS that, though - we're not taking the Megabus to Iceland tomorrow. No way!

Anyway, Thom Yorke - singer in popular rock band Radiohead and solo artist in his own right these days - has told The Guardian that he's uncomfortable with taking aeroplanes, because of the damage they do to the environment.

He's gone as far as saying he might quit touring altogether.

"I think it's a necessary part of what I do, to tour or play live, but I find it unacceptable what the consequences of that are," he said. "Some of our best ever shows have been in the US, but there's 80,000 people there and they've all been sitting in traffic jams for five or six hours with their engines running to get there, which is bollocks."

Yorke continued: "I would consider refusing to tour on environmental grounds, if nothing started happening to change the way the touring operates. I'm trying to figure out a way of getting to Japan by train. I quite fancy that Trans-Siberian whatsitsname but apparently it's a bit scary."

The rest of Radiohead, apparently, aren't too keen on the train idea. See me, I like trains. Hey! That's a band! Whoop.
