Haines Attacks Pop!
jmoore by James Moore May 29th, 2001
Luke Haines, member of The Auteurs and Black Box Recorder, has laid into a host of pop starts as part of his manifesto to close the music industry down for a week.

Haines, who releases a new album The Oliver Twist Manifesto on 2nd July, issued a two page statement demanding pop stars to down tools that week.

Part of it reads "Our aim is to dismantle the apparatus of the music industry to afford ourselves some peace... to rethink popular culture"

The ultimatum targets many specific pop stars and one evil label boss. It says "Alan McGee, Badly Drawn Boy, Coldplay, Eminem, Simon Fuller, Cathy Dennis, Hear'Say, Opportunity knocks: your miserable holiday is cancelled. Now can we have some fun and stop dying please?"
