Joanna Newsom to headline this year's Green Man Festival

It's recently been announced that Joanna Newsom is to headline Sunday night of this year's Green Man Festival. She'll take a break from her UK tour to join the ranks of fellow headliners Bonnie 'Prince' Billy & Matt Sweeney (who are the big names for Saturday night). This Newsom's only UK festival date.

This year's Green Man Festival will take place August 19-21 at Baskerville Hall, Hay-On-Wye, Wales and will feature over 40 live acts, including The Earlies, Adem, James Yorkston, Micah P. Hinson, Alasdair Roberts, , along with many other DJs and various other acts.

The festival will also include folk singer Shirley Collins and her talk about her experiences in the '50s and in collecting folksongs from the Appalachians and Deep South. Parents will be happy to know that there is a wide variety of children's entertainment, everything from puppet shows to storytelling.

£65 seems a bit steep, considering that, apart from Joanna Newsom, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy and James Yorkston, the line up is mostly fairly unknown.

I'd like to go, but I don't have that kind of money.
Is there any way of getting a day ticket just for the day Joanna Newsom is playing?
Though I'd love to see Bonnie 'Prince' Billy too...

Joanna Newsom to headline this year's Green Man Festival

Green Man weekend is when 1/2 of Cardiff's musical community just relocate to mid Wales for a few days. Lots of SE Wales types playing (which being a SE Wales musical type is pretty good for me). Most of the non locals (aka "proper" musicians) on the main stages last year were fantastic though, apart from one or two - far better quality control than yer average festival though. Fantastic food stalls too.

Also playing is oldy folky Wizz Jones - amazing guitarist who actually looks like his name. See?
