Tom Morello arrested in LA

Audioslave and former Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello was arrested in Los Angeles yesterday after protesting for immigrant hotel workers' rights.

Morello was one of around 2,000 protesters who blocked the main road (Century Boulevard) to the city's international airport, LAX. He refused to move when requested to do so, and was subsequently arrested.

Prior to joining the protest, Morello said:

"In these political dark ages, it's important for us to stand up for one another. These hotel workers by the airport make twenty per cent less wages than hotel workers around the rest of Los Angeles.

"We're here to express our solidarity with them, to help them unionize and to help them close the gap between their sub-poverty wages and the millions and millions of dollars the people who own these hotels make."

Word on the MTV grapevine is that Morello set out to get arrested in the first place. That he succeeded is, we suppose, a result for the man - after all, he set out to make a good third album with Audioslave, Revelations, but rather spectacularly failed.

It's been ten years since he wrote a good riff, which given the fact that before that he kinda owned the word riff, is pretty much an arrestable offence in itself. Having said that, cows don't get arrested when they block the roads in rural areas and neither do sheep, pigs don't tend to cross the roads but regardless, none of them have too much to say for themselves.

but you've clearly either overindulged at lunch or have the mental capacity of a 5 year old.

Facts are, Morello AND a lot of other people on this march planned to get arrested (a not-unheard of event in the world of mass protest, I might add) and even fore-warned the cops about their intentions.

I read this on the MTV site and, seeing as some people like to know what former members of good bands are up to, Diver reported it here.

Nothing more to it, I'm afraid.
