Roadrunner Goes Cheap

Those lovely people at Roadrunner Records have released another dirt cheap 16 track sampler CD.

Continuing with their 'Download' range comes new release 'Download 2001.'

As usual with these compilations, there are the usual suspects (Machinehead, Fear Factory, Slipknot) as well as the up and coming bands being plugged by the label.

The tracklisting is :-

1) DRY KILL LOGIC - 'Nightmare'

3) ILL NINO - 'God Save Us'
4) SOULFLY - 'Terrorist (Total Destruction Mix)'
5) 36 CRAZYFISTS - 'Circle The Drain (demo)'
6) SEPULTURA - 'One Man Army'
7) CHIMAIRA - 'Dead Inside (demo)'
8) MACHINE HEAD - 'House Of Suffering'

11) NICKELBACK - 'Leader Of Men'
12) ANYONE - 'Giving Thrills'
13) GLASSJAW - 'Modern Love Story'
14) SPINESHANK - 'Transparent'
15) SLIPKNOT - 'Surfacing (live)'
16) FEAR FACTORY - 'Linchpin (video)'

Roadrunner Goes Cheap

I used to half like the Roadrunner comps years ago. But all those tracks send a BIG horrible shiver down my spine. Coz they're all everything I hate in metal today.
Pretentious, wannabe, band wagon jumping dicks who think plastering themselves in make-up and calling themselves *sick* and *ill* names is dead cool.
But then everyone

Re: Roadrunner Goes Cheap

I agree with you in the most part.. but Machinehead and Fear Factory can't be accused of that.

They are possibly the best 2 metal bands of the past 10 years or so and have changed their music style for THEMSELVES, no-one else... electro metal was hugely unheard of before 'Remanufacture' and Take My Scars is one of the best metal songs ever.

The rest, I semi agree with... I am not sure about the Seps.. thats debatable... but Slipknot, definetly

Re: Roadrunner Goes Cheap

For a long time there wasn't much else for metal fans until the nu-shit thing exploded. Respect to roadrunner for being pioneers, where metal went then couldn't have been foreseen (well maybe) and respect to the likes of fearfactory and Mr cavilara, most things since then have been based on their styles eg ragingspeedhorn. shame about some of the crap on roadrunner now though
