im not bothered, they've done enough, equally undisturbed by them or busted spliting up, there's plenty of good bands out there who aren't surfing the waves of pop while pretending to be rock.

I thought I would comment first and pre-empt all the posters saying "Blink 182 ROOL MAN". The first person to waffle on about how good the drummer is (bothered) or how they did amazing side projects (like I care) and that they were like, totally different from Greenday and stuff (mmm sure) gets a pair of the band's super white y fronts shoved somewhere unpleasant.
Still, kudos to Green Day; they started it, and it looks like they'll end it.

Fucking hated them until the self-titled,which was starting to get onto the right tracks - although i do have a lot of respect for the drummer - he seemed like the only one with a grain of talent in him.

I liked Blink 182.
I can understand why a lot of people found it hard to see past the juvenile exterior, but they had a way with a pop tune that a lot of their peers didn't.

Blink seemed to evolve into a mildly-talented band [I Miss You is a good song] from the pop-punk chancers that released some right pish tunes.

This has been a great day - we all had to council one of our mates who idolized them - poor sods just got over some snotty, smelly virus and now this - we just had to laugh.

I actually respect their decision, they are a good band and have provided their fans with the music they enjoy (whther u enjoy it or not is not the point it doesnt give you anymore right to take the p*ss out of them than you do any other person), i think that if thats what they want to do their fans shud respect their wishes after all there are a lot of ppl out there that dont give a damn about their loved ones and its actually really nice to see that there are some ppl that wanna c their kids grow up and spend time with ppl that love them. So yeah the band may be 'on haitus' but that doesnt mean u dont have their music that they gave u...plp shud be happy wiht that and wish them the best of luk.

Legitimate criticism of a band is fair and actually is a good thing. Not everyone on these boards, including myself is a fan of them and therefore we hold different opinions from you.

I think that those ripping into blink should give it a rest. They were influential (along with shedloads of other bands i know, i know list them in your own posts). Their music, ok, it wasn't clever but it was fun! I mean some songs may just whine about girls but they contain lyrics that mean stuff to people and i'm sure one of their tracks has tocuhed someone in some way. I was gutted to hear they had split, even more so when that twat zane lowe started cheering, but i have a feeling they are just cooling off and will eventually return. I mean look at the gap greenday had between nimrod and warning, 4 years? and weezer with pinkerton and the green album 6 or 7 years? (i can't remember)

This year is getting better for me. The s/t album was unbelievably shite. Green Day are several billion times better than Blink, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Lost Prophets, Sum 41 etc. etc. GOod bye.

i liked them. its sad that they split up, but it wasnt before their time like it was with busted so im not as upset. Blink had loads of albums so theirs loads to listen to, busted split up after just 2 albums when the fans still wanted more. i wasnt mad on the last blink album and to be honest if the next one would have been like that i wouldnt have bought it.

blink 182 are the best and im so glad they are NOT spliting up. although i think in 5 years they will bring out a greatest hits and have one last tour and thats it. but im hoping not.

Totally disagree there - I reckon Warning and American Idiot are far, far better albums than Dookie and Insomniac. They've grown from playing (admittedly quite fun) three chord thrashes to writing genuinely affecting and literate music that is more musically sophisticated and still has more of an edge to it than their earlier stuff did. I also don't get how all the same critics who love American Idiot hate Warning; musically they both cover similar ground and the songwriting on Warning is as good as that on the new album. It really is one of the most unfairly criticised albums of the decade.

I agree. I hope they're taking a break. Their songs werent just music. It was a bunch of gr8 jokes that the average person cant think of. They also had good voices, and were creative with their videos. Also, punk funny band aside they also did serious songs like I miss you
