Sub Pop pop-rockers The Shins have finally confirmed a release date for their much-anticipated third LP, Wincing The Night Away.
Anyone now wanting to comment that it'll be the band's fourth album should shut it. I'm not counting that Flake Music thing. Nope, doesn't count. So shush it.
Wincing The Night Away will be available in the UK on January 22 - US fans will have to wait an extra day (why do they release records on a Tuesday?). The band posted the following on theie website:
“Trust us if we had our way it would be out next week, but ‘The Man’ has seen fit to do otherwise.
“The good folks at Sub Pop have scheduled this like a finely tuned machine, and we have all the confidence in the world that January is the magic month for a reason. We are excited.”

...
Made my day, that has.
i'm a bit slow/...
does anyone know why its taken so long?
as long as its a half hour pop masterpeice i dont mind but was wandering if anything had happened to them that i missed ....
great news
Only really discovered them this year and Chutes Too Narrow has been the album of the summer for me.
Record
company bullshit as far as i know... because of marketing and mastering and xmas sales.. thus them saying that they woudl release it now if they could, subpop and their militray operation..
...
*Creams ones chuddies in anticipation*
its very upsetting
that while i was watching the shins earlier this year i just had a mild panic attack and had to stand at the back. and so didn't really enjoy myself too much.
anyway, crowds are for LAME PEOPLE. jeez. its about the music, yeah?
i'm expecting
a moral dichotomy come about November as to whether to download the leak.
very
very exciting news
