Unsigned IoW act win Bestival slot

The Chancers, an unsigned act from the Isle of Wight (I used to go on holiday there as a kid, yup), have won the opportunity to perform at Bestival later this month.
The band - pictured - will play the festival's Blue Pavilion after being picked from thousands of hopefuls by event organiser Rob da Bank (look out for a DiS interview with Rob in the run-up to Bestival).
The Chancers - who claim to combine the melodies of The Beatles with the funk of Sly And The Family Stone - will get thirty minutes to strut their stuff on Bestival's Friday afternoon. Let's hope they don't slump like Blackgang Chine's cliffs. The band's Rick Stanbridge said:
“We were really surprised to be picked and very humbled to win. We are really looking forward to playing on this large stage and can’t wait to meet Rob da Bank and the other artists.”
The three-day Bestival festival begins on September 8 on the Isle of Wight. The Chancers' MySpace page is here.
