Bloc Party announce UK dates plus Razorlight support

Bloc Party have announced a set of dates to follow the release of their debut album ‘Silent Alarm’, out on February 14th.

The dates are:

March

01 Edinburgh Liquid Room
02 Sheffield Leadmill
04 London Forum
05 Portsmouth Pyramid

Support on the short tour will be Chromeo, with additional support on the London date from Battle.

Additionally, Bloc Party will also be playing with Razorlight on February 12th at the Alexandra Palace plus a date at Whelan's in Dublin on 17th of January (this Monday). Support comes from DiS' own Redjetson. The DiS label signees also play the following dates:

14 London - ICA Halloween Short Film Festival - Type2error night with THe Edmund Fitzgerald and 'Youth Movie Soundtrack Strategies'
15 Manchester - The Music Box with The Sonar Yen, The Lucida Console and The KBC
16 Belfast Auntie Annies with Driving By Night and Sixty Minute Silence

19 Oxford - Wheatsheaf with Fell City Girl and Nun Of The Above
26 Leeds - The Fav

Oh, and there’s also the new Bloc Party single ‘So Here We Are’ out on January 31st, which is backed with, ‘Positive Tension’ (also on the album) and a re-recorded version of ‘The Marshalls Are Dead’, from the band’s neo-legendary debut 7” single on Trash Aesthetics…

Well, calling yourself Killing Moon would probably be asking for trouble. I mean, it wouldn't matter whether you did or didn't sound like McCulloch and his crew, y'know. If they wanted to name themselves after an echo song, they should have called themselves Crocodiles or Zimbo. That'd be cool.

I saw Bloc Party play Brighton in the summer (day of England v France, had to brave many a thug to get to the venue on the seafront) but anyway Killing Moon were actually watching the gig. Im not saying this in the style of a windswept fan. Later while I was listening to Killing Moon by Bunnymen and on this site saw a band named Killing Moon in the recommend gigs....thought I guess I should see who/what they are and I recognised them. An odd coincidence and a boring one at that.

Yup, Battles does indeed feature the John Stanier from Helmet, along with Ian Williams from Don Caballero.

They play like robots. The records are incredible.

The four minute Youthmovie single is all done. Clocks in at 3.45 actually! Just waiting on the video and some XFM gubbins to get sorted before it comes out.

hey tinkerbecks - redjetson are trying hard to line up something in liverpool, so please don't think we're igonoring you ! we're playing manchester this saturday which is north west....kinda....if anyone knows of a way or someone who'd put a show on, then please shout up !
