Not entirely sure about the facts here, but DiS has been informed that Ikara Colt will be looking for a new drummer.
We’ve been told that Dominic Young has now left the band, and we’ll be fleshing this story out a little bit later.

He's one of the best drummers around and amazing to watch. I love the Colt, I really hope this isn't the end. But they'll have a job replacing Dom. Good luck to them, and him with whatever he ends up doing. Bugger.

With many bands this wouldn't be an issue, but Mr Young's drumming style was such a key part of the Ikara Colt "sound"...in some tracks, those mental rolls provided more of a "hook" than anything else in the song.

I understand that the band said they would split up if they were still going after 5 years.

thats rubbish, his drumming is superb, ive seen them and hes been going off at a million miles an hour and leaving his band mates in the dust struggling to keep up with him. which should be a bad thing, but it was part of ikara colts appeal. hes the best drummer ever to look like a postman on speed. shite news.

Yeah, he was quite easily the best and most exciting (and probably fastest) drummer that i've seen play live, and his part in the 'Colt was key to their 'sound'. The gig they played last year at the Joiners was one of my favourites EVER. He's a lovely bloke too, so all the best to him, but still i'm rather gutted.
Fer fuck sake. Two of really decent bands plus a really promising new one decide to disintergrate today. Anyone living in fear?

Whats happening, the wolrds melting, 2005 appears and its shut down.
Dominic Young was a fine drummer with ikara colt, especially in the early days when they art rocked alot more. I cant see lot more for them now. If they had a Mark E Smith fronting them i could see further than drummers, but they were a great band. A Great Group.
