And once again I repeat my post...

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

Indeed. Hardcore kids are cunts. It actually really puts me off seeing Converge.

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

and all Post-Rock fans are boring intellectuals

Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

This is as patently untrue as your statement Mr Loveless

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

Not really. Hardcore shows have become colonised by people who think it's cool to try and punch as many people as they can in the face. Just go here and you'll see what I'm talking about:

Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

Oh, and I reserve my right to make crass generalisations.

Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

Yes but i listen to Hatebreed Converge etc would this make me a cunt?

and not all of them are about 'the mosh'

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

I listen to Converge and Dillinger. I'm not a hardcore kid. When I refer to hardcore kids I don't mean all people who listen to hardcore, I mean the fuckwits who mosh or "dance" at gigs. They tried their best to ruin the last Dillinger show I went to by doing that...fortunately they failed.

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

But if you expect moshing at a hardcore show where do you expect it?

I could see your point if it was Sigur Ros or EITS but a show with DEP and POW will have Moshing.

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

Why though? Seriously, what is the point of moshing? Of course I expected there to be moshing at the show but why do people bother? To give another example; I was at a local band night in Reading last Friday to see a band who are probably closest to Isis and Pelican in style. Some retards decided it would be a really good idea to start trying to punch people and mosh...they ended up knocking the bassist's girlfriend flat out as she was trying to film the show. One of them then punched my mate in the face. Bear in mind, we were just standing on the edge and making no attempt to join in the "fun".

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

You were never a rock kid were you? Because it's brilliant fun that's why. Punching people is over the top (idiots think its cool to use any excuse to get their fuckin monkeyman urges out), but jumping around like an idiot is fuckin great, especially when you are 17 and full of hormones and adrenalin... and it is a fuckin rock n roll gig... if you don't like it, go to the opera.

Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

become? you're talking about it as if it's a new thing. it started with the dc hxc scene way back when. at least make your crass generalisations relevant.

Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

why are you all so inept at clicking REPLY TO POST?

to mosh... or not to mosh
it is a personal preference you thick bastards
some people can take it in there and like it
some people can't so don't
that's life
you can't seriously expect everyone to live at your standards can you
the world would be rubbish
because you're rubbish
because you can only see one point of view
because you're stupid
so just shut up now

Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

"why are you all so inept at clicking REPLY TO POST?"

Why does this really matter in the grand scheme of things?

"it is a personal preference you thick bastards"

Wow, what an insightful comment. It's almost as if none of us could have figured that out on our own.

"you can't seriously expect everyone to live at your standards can you"

Where did I say that I expected that? I simply asked what the point of moshing is. Incidentally, I'd say there's a difference between moshing and jumping around having a laugh (case in point, the recent ...TOD gig at the ULU where everyone was having a great time).

"because you're rubbish
because you can only see one point of view
because you're stupid
so just shut up now"

So you'd be perfectly happy to be deliberately punched in the face at a gig for no good reason? I'm able to see plenty of different view points, just none that involve someone trying to rearrange my face whilst I'm trying to watch a band play. Fucking cunt...

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

Obviously punching people is a bit OTT but again at some shows it is to be expected. Why you ask? well because the Hardcore fans like Moshing and a lesser number like Punching, try and see a Hellfest Dvd, in the U.S crowds are far more violent.

Also Loveless as you freely admit you are not a Hardcore Fan, so the crowds may well ask why should they change for you? An acoustic gig won't have moshing because it is not the done thing, at Harcore shows it is.

Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

Punching's a bit over the top. I try to avoid moshing these days, i'm getting a bit on the old side: i can't keep up with the pace, and i feel slightly concered at how young everyone else looks.

Best way to avoid moshing is to stand back. Which what I intend to do at the Glasgow show.

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

Yeah I usually do stand at the back TBH. Like I said, I realise some people want to mosh but at the same time when the venue's packed out, people will inevitably be forced to stand on the edge of the pit and when you get some cunt look your mate in the face, grin at him like a retard and then very deliberately punch him it's hard to feel any sympathy towards the people who "just wanna mosh".

A secondary point; I would actually call myself a hardcore fan...I love bands like Dillinger, Converge, Botch, These Arms Are Snakes and Refused. I just don't feel the need to deck random people in the face to try and cover my own insecurities.

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

Punching is wrong. Moshing Isn't.

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

True. But many hardcore kids associate one with the other.

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

planes mistaken for stars are shit.

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

where can you get tickets for the manchester date? i need to get tickets but can't think where from?

xx

Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

but they're shit...

Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

Did anyone go to the Converge do then?

I found it amazing, apart from that band 'Modern Life is War'. Pretty boring.

On the moshing issue:
Punching people or involving 'non-moshers' is totally pathetic, but I have enjoyed pretty violent moshing in the past, and am generally of the opinion that non-participants should just keep out of the way.

However, I really don't know about this seemingly new penchant for 'head-stomping'. It seems to involve getting up onstage, then running as far as you can into the crowd using peoples' heads as steppingstones. WHAT THE FUCK?

Re: Planes Mistaken For Stars Converge on the UK

This the London show? That 'King of the Pit' shit was SO wrong - fucking kids were getting fucked up, and it didn't help matters when PR guys and other bands ran from the stage into the crowd.

The head stomping - whatever - was unbelievable. Seriously, from my lofty vantage point over the stage I could see the faces of the front row and they WERE NOT loving it. It just got silly. People should have wised up and chilled a bit, looked out for each other, y'know?

It really pissed me off seeing the same few twats coming back up time and time and time again for more, whilst all the time these enthusiastic kids were getting smashed to fuck. I'm surprised Bannon didn't say something. When the drummer went in elbows flailing I wasn't sure whether he was making a point - ie STOP IT YOU FUCKS - or whether he was just adding to the problem.

Meh... Coverge still fuckin' own.
