Texan masters of all things slow-movingly epic Explosions In The Sky have told fans via their MySpace page (and official website) that the writing for their third album is wrapped up.
The band have written six songs, ranging from three to thirteen minutes long each. They expect to begin recording with The Paper Chase's John Congleton this month, in Minnesota.
The album is slated for a February 2007 release, when the band aim to tour again.
Explosions In The Sky have made mp3s of the songs from their sold-out The Rescue EP available on their website. Click here.

Good.
How Strange, Innocence.
Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever.
The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place.
The fourth album, surely?
Sorry... this *is* good news, and I'm grateful for The Rescue mp3s...
they say third, themselves...
...guess they consider one something else...?
FANTASTIC
EITS are one of very few instrumental bands that seem to capture the beauty of their live performances onto record.
I'm hoping for some new ground to be covered on the newie as they have proabbly exhausted the sound of The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place.
I am extremely excited by this news.
i already
tried that one with Mr. Diver before, in another thread, he's got his head screwed on and no mistake - if a band think it's a long EP and you think it's an album, it's still an EP, or whatever.
Perhaps they don't regard How Strange, Innocence as a proper album - what with only making 300 copies the first time around? (a piece of juvenalia perhaps?)
!
Everyone should get them Rescue MP3s. 2minute post rock is tha' bomb...
Saw them live last year
and they were immense. Looking forward to hearing this.
Saw them supporting Four Tet
. .were probably best on the night.
Greet Death was the auralgasmic.
