Coxon to return to Blur?
- Artists:
- Blur »
- Graham Coxon »
What's this? DiS guilty of leafing through copies of the Daily Mirror in our local corner shop? You betcha.
They reckon Graham Coxon's heading back to Blur, and have a 'source' to prove as much:
_"It's very positive for everyone and Graham will still be able to do his solo work as well as working with the band again."_
This coming after Coxon was spotted meeting up with his former bandmates last week. Damon Albarn has gone on the record in the past, saying that Coxon would be welcomed back into the band with open arms. Is this the beginning of a beautiful friendship, again?
Probably not. People have to sell papers somehow, y'know.

Coxon to return to Blur?
Well hopefully this means he'll stop releasing awful singles like 'freak me out'
Am i the only person who thinks that song sounds like it was written by a twelve year old
I'm foaming at the mouth,
yeah i'm mad without a doubt,
cause i'm really freakin out!
i've heard more sophisticated lyrics on blazin squad albums.

Since that story was published he's come out and said he's not going to join Blur, saying 'don't be so silly' or words to that effect.
And didn't this story come out like two days ago? Are you all asleep?

Isn't Williams reforming Take That and Halliwell restarting the Spice Girls too?
How about Malkmus back with Pavement?

....and Bor(e)land back with the Bizkit.
Reforming isn't always a good idea.

I love Coxons solo work.
The reason it sounds "like a twelve year old" to some ears is because he has succeeded in keeping that naive, child-like quality in his music.
There is no need for him to return to blur.
Surely he's happy where he is?

his solo stuff is miles better than blur's last album anyway.
Coxon to return to Blur?
Maybe if he rejoined Blur might actuallyu write mildly good songs again.

Or the Pixies refor... Oh, wait

coxons solo work is class
Coxon to return to Blur?
i dont see why he would want to go back to blur after all the things he has said, and his solo stuff is pretty successful.
Coxon to return to Blur?
Coxon's happiness in magazines album is immense, pop-tastic stuff. I would like to see him try out blur again if he personally wants to. I was not a fan of Think Tank. it lacked graham completely.
it's actually good of them to take him back after the way he was. Wait and see if it does take place.

"It's not true at all. Of course not. Is anything you've ever read in the Mirror true? Can you read any evidence that what the headline said was true within the piece? All that piece says is that I’m definitely recording another solo album with Stephen Street, it doesn't really say anything about me joining Blur at all. So the headline is wrong for what the piece is. It should be ignored."
So there you have it, he's not rejoining Blur, which in my eyes is a very good thing. See www.grahamcoxon.com for the full article :)

Having read the excellent '3862 Days' book, I would say that it would be nice if they can still be friends. But otherwise, the split worked well - I thought 'Think Tank' and 'Happiness In Magazines' were both ace.

He was on the Frank Skinner show last nite. I bloody love Coxon. "There's nothing romantic about being thrown out of a squat in New Cross."

Any1 remember the album 13? It was a complete clash of musical influence. Blur staying away from Graham is a good idea. They should play it safe because if blur finished their carear on an album like 13 it would be a sour note to leave people on how to remember your music. Though graham rejoining after a long spell of breathing space might produce something out of this world
Re: Coxon to return to Blur?
Personally, I love Graham's solo stuff loads more than Blur.
BTW, I think the song you are referring to is called "Freakin' Out"!

Get out of town!
I can't believe I signed in just for a little bit of wry humour.
