Rappers are, like, SO cool...

Ja Rule - you know, the one that looks like a mouse - has been charged with assault following a fracas in a Toronto nightclub last month. He entered a no plea in court and has been released on $4,000 bail. Oh, and he's not allowed to touch booze whilst he's in Toronto. Bad boy.
One rapper that's already in the clink, Shyne, has recorded a 'dis' rap about 50 Cent. When will these boys learn to get along? Anyway, he's pissed because Fiddy apparently slagged him off whilst also trying to sign him to his G-Unit label. Fiddy recorded his own 'dis' rap - mentioning both Shyne and Lil' Kim - sometime earlier at a New York radio station. Blah blah whatever...
Shyne is serving a ten-year sentence for being bad boy (he was involved in a 1999 shooting in New York), but has somehow landed a deal with Def Jam. They will release his second album, 'Godfather Buried Alive', next month. I don't suppose it'll crop up on Fiddy's birthday list.

GLC's album will be just above Outkast's latest album in every Indie kid's cd rack. Bless.

Maybe we should cross-breed a mouse and a seal and see if it makes better records.

what an excuse for a programme. i can't remember the last time i saw a music video on MTV.
oh, actually, yeah i can. It was a late night vid-off, where you're supposed to think 'Guns n Roses vs. The Pixies' is a fight worth staging. i got to see 'Debaser', though, which was nice.
But yeah, Pimp My Ride. Did they actually make more than two episodes?

Anyway sod em. sod em all, they deserve to be violated, with long fiery sticks for making music that literally deflicates on our ears when listened to, I mean Jah Rule = a shit rapper who can't even sell out properly, he is destined to produce second rate RnB for the rest of his life and that should be his punishment.
If artists are looking for recognition then why not produce some decent hip hop music by adhering to the cultures main principle of invention. To get ahead in the rap game one should try to be better than their rivals the likes of Jah and Fiddy. Try going back to the roots of the movement and using breaks and samples rather than producing primary school beats and loops in the studio. I mean with all that equipment they have at their fingertips you think they could come up with something a little better than 'Always on time', or 'P.I.M.P'.
Go and check out the Madvillian album to see how hip hop should be made. Failing that avoid any chart 'hip hop' because its not hip hop, thats an insult to the term hip hop. Its Rap music and shit rap music at that.
Remember if Fiddy really was a P.I.M.P he'd be taking pride in his product, rather than selling crappy trainers.

Hmm, interesting... I was thinking the other day during my lunch break about the hip hop and capitalism link...

Given an opportunity any man would do the same and sell his name for the millions of dollars that comes fom the new brand of footwear or soft drink, but it takes a bigger, better artist to realise that its not about fame, its about the music, or it should be.
Herein is where the difference lies.
An 'artist' is capable of realising that the music is what he is famous for, not for his face. The perception that he is actually famous for his actions and not his product is unfounded.
I can repect the man that makes a shit load of money from selling himself to the highest bidder, he has entrepenuerial skills... but at the same time i don't think it should all be about how much money you have. If thats truly what someone wants then fair play to them, I wish them all the sucess in the world but i'm not going to try and justify it for them.
It just seems that sometimes as the money rolls in the music seems to suffer, just look at the WuTang back catalogue, is Iron Flag anywhere near as dark and inventive as 36 Chambers?
Will 'Uzi (pinky ring)' change as many peoples perceptions of hip hop as say 'C*R*E*A*M' or 'Bring the rukus'?
Have any of Jah Rule's releases been about anything other than bentleys, diamonds and loui vitton suitcases?
as for the 'lengthy explanations' dig, hey man, i can accept that peoples opinons are different to my own and i can even being to understand them when they express their views coherently but You my friend seem a little to caught up in 'the game' as it were.
You call me bitter and over judgemental but these i am not. I like hip hop music, good hip hop music. I don't pay attention to people like 50cent, P Diddy and Jah rule because i have no desire to listen to them or their music. Furthermore i don't 'keep an eye on their every move every behaviour, every word they utter, how they utter it, etc' because to me their expressions have no immediacy, no impact and no musical merit, i can't relate to it. Why should i listen or even pay attention when they are offering me no more information than what size rims to have on my car, or whats the most over expensive champagne to drink?
I'm the first to admit i AM jealous of the lifestyle they lead, but who isn't...?
Contrary to your beliefs, i do not 'love myself' and i do not think i'm 'better' than these rappers, i just believe that when given that much scope and coverage an influential star could promote bigger issues, like equality and peace over pepsi and reebok.
You yourself are obviously bitter and have jumped so quickly to fufill the acusations you posted for me. You and 'Your types', as you so elequantly put it, should try to understand the people that you are so angry at for not understanding you, otherwise no one can ever begin to understand each other.
