Next DiS Fandango takeover Tuesday 25/03/03

Drowned In Sound in association with Club Fandango present:

The (imaginatively-titled) DiS Fandango hi-jack.

The Vibe: Why use two guitars when three will do?

The Bands

RAZORLIGHT are, according to some, 'the best unsigned band in Britain'. Fronted by rn'r pin up Johnny Borrell, the four-piece offer an intoxicating blend of new wave rock and old school tunes with riffs and melodies as sharp as their cheekbones. Think Patty Smith, think Iggy Pop, all wrapped up in one extravagant flourish of guitars and attitude.

RAZORLIGHT ARE ONSTAGE AT 10:45PM

REPAIRMAN return to Club Fandango having gone trotting round this sceptred isle with Gomez and released their difficult to define, yet deliciously soft-centred debut, 'The Orange Room' EP. Expect lavishly lo-fi experimentalism steeped in warm swathes of tune. For something a bit less abstract, think of Bjork, 'The White Album' and Warp Records bundled together in glorious harmony.

REPAIRMAN ARE ONSTAGE AT 10:00PM

WEED - an acronym for the wonderfully titled 'wild evil entertainment dept.' - are the most culturally significant export from Denmark since the Great Dane himself. (we're talking Hamlet here). Treading the London boards for the first time, they have a reputation to match their music to match their name. Keep your heads down and your ears open.

WEED ARE ONSTAGE AT 9:15PM

STARFIGHTER-X are an intriguing London boy/girl trio with a stripped-down drumkit, a 'Star Wars' obsession, punk rock guitars and the sort of rock'n'roll attitude which has won over the likes of the people of Sonic Mook Experiment where they recently played with The Blam. "The vivid dischord created will trigger a unique oscillating moment, jarring fashion, style and entertainment into a new dimension," they say.

ONSTAGE AT 8:30 PM
