Reading Live Scene
Reading Live Scene
jbowes by Jim Bowes March 11th, 2002
Walking into a venue filled with 270 people out to see live music, on a Wednesday night in Reading, is fantastic, the fact that the bands are pretty much unknown makes it a delight. The venue is 'The Fez' and tonight Reading is enjoying one less garage-event than normal.

When known as The Alleycat, the venue had touring bands five nights out of seven and local stuff on the other nights, sadly it closed about three years ago and left a gigantic hole in the Reading scene.

Tonight's line-up of solo artist Ginni Hogarth, guitar-pop filled Monarchy and rock/grunge maestros Jelutong is not the best matched ever, but this hardly matters with forthcoming delights such as Vex Red, Halo and Rachel Stamp all on offer.

The Fez is a fantastic venue and the return of weekly touring bands to Reading will hopefully re-vitalise the scene and make Reading an all year round place for live music.
