So, why the name change to Goldrush?
Joe: Because Whispering Bob was crap!
Isn't it because it's the name of a Neil Young song aswell?
Robin: That's purely coincidental. jokingly But I like what that song symbolises!
How would you describe your music?
J: We're a mix between Destiny's Child, Nelly Furtado and Kylie with some flute thrown in! laughs
R: No, you don't want to write that!
I do want to write that!
J: We are quite influenced by Destiny's Child and by Eve..and also by Cypress Hill! Dusty Springfield starts playing on the jukebox
R: Joe likes to dance.
J: I put these five songs on the jukebox, so you can tell what kind of music I like. laughs
What's it like touring with Elbow
J: starts laughing What's it like having it on the Elbow!
Garro: It's the same of touring with anyone else really.
R: It's lovely.
What do you think of Elbow?
R: I think they're really good.
G: They're good, yeah.
What about them personally?
J: Nice guys.
R: Very nice. Guy is one of the nicest guys I know.
J: laughs Infact he's the only person you know called Guy!
Right, now i've got some more interesting questions. Robin and Joe, what's it like being in a band with each other, and do you ever get sick of seeing each others faces?
Robin and Joe start laughing insanely
J: Funny you should say that! I feel sick just looking at him.
Do you ever get in fights with each other?
Robin and Joe start having a fight
G: Only really gay fights like that!
R: He's not older, he's younger but he hits me! 'G' is actually the oldest in the band but some people think he's youngest.
J: No! He's the youngest. He's only 15.
Does 'G' have a little 'H from Steps' thing going on?
R: He pulls crazy faces the whole time!
G: In sexual terms aswell.
Garro asks 'G' if his name stands for anything, like 'H' stands for 'Hyperactive'. 'G' just ignores him.
R: laughs It stands for gormless!
G: No! It stands for gay!
I read that you were called 'Whispering Bob' because Robin served Whispering Bob Harris from Radio 2 in your local Spar, is this true?
R: Yeah that is true, it's not even made up, it's completely true.
So what would you have been called if you'd served Chris Evans?
J: Ginger twat!
R: That's a good question!
Are you worried about any Starsailor comparisons due to the fact you both have songs called 'Love Is Here'
R: Yeah, that is quite funny isn't it!
G: We're really worried about that actually.
R: The thing is, none of us have our Daddy's eyes.
J: Or high-pitched girl voices! Joe starts doing James Walsh impressions and sings Alcoholic
R: My dad saw Starsailor on Jools Holland and said 'You're a bit like that Starsailor, arent you?' and I was like 'No we're fucking not!'
You're going to get into some celebrity scrap with them!
R: Yeah, they're probably going to be really nice and we'll be like 'Hello' and they'll say Robin puts on high pitched voice 'Hello!'. Actually we're going to be on tour with them next month so we better behave!
J: jokingly Yes, I expect they are very nice!
Come the music revolution, who do you want to shoot first?
R: That's a very pretentious question.
Garro asks the rest of the band
Rest of band: Robin!
G + J: Geri Halliwell!
Do you ever listen to your own music?
R: In the studio, far too much.
J: starts laughing Only when i'm wanking!
R: If you can make a recording that you still want to listen to a week later, then that's an achievement.
If you weren't in Goldrush, what would you be doing?
R: I'd be a roadie for Starsailor!
G: Joe would be painting pictures and drinking.
R: laughs Drinking paint!
J: I'd probably be in bed!
So what's next for Goldrush?
R: We're going to find religion, and Garro's going to learn the Sitar! Oh..and i'm going to grow a moustache!
Is there plans for an album anytime soon?
G: There's 'plans' for one, yes.
J: We've done four songs for it already.
R: Hopefully we'll do some new versions of some of the older songs to go on the album aswell.
Thanks a lot guys.
