The Tuesday DiScussion: What are your six best albums of the last six years?
The most impossible-to-answer question of all time? No.
As we glide closer to the majestic month of October, we find ourselves drawing ever-nearer to what those who inhabit the DiSopolis would call 'DiS is Six'.
Yes, correct. DrownedinSound.com (you're looking at it!) turns six in October; this, you should know by now. What you may not know is that to accompany our array of gigs - look out for full details sooooon - we'll also have a good deal of birthday-related content on the site, including our top 66 albums of the past six years. Ambitious? You betcha.
Today though, we'd love to know what your top six albums of the last six have been. We invite you to scan your iTunes, flick through your vinyl and ponder over your CDs to establish the six albums that have shaped who you are today. The six records that have meant the most, forced you to dance, brought on tears and induced a smile.
So, comment below. List away and argue, please. We'd love to know the music that has influenced your lives and resulted in your being here today, perusing DiS.
The run down of our 66 albums of the past six years - those records that have been essential to the existence of DiS; those that still stir our stomachs and twist our hearts every time we hear them - will begin next week. Look out for it - it's sure to have given us headaches and sleepless nights enough to warrant digesting and discussion. As certain members of the DiS team might have been overheard saying: "It'll be mint."

I'm compiling a top 66 of the last 33 years
I'll post it later
my top 6 would have to be
1. Daft Punk - Discovery
2. Hundred Reasons - Ideas above our station
3. Idlewild - The Remote Part

(in no particular order)
Isis, Mono, LB, Malcolm...
...shit, I think you're me.
Hmmm, here goes...
'Tis not easy, but these come to mind first, I guess.
Muse - Origin Of Symmetry
The Streets - Original Pirate Material
Idlewild - The Remote Part
Our Lady Peace - Gravity
The Cribs - The New Fellas
Radiohead - Kid A
For various reasons;
Muse are still my favourite band, because of OoS. I still remember hearing Newborn for the first time on the radio, on Jo Whiley's show, and thinking "this fucking ROCKS!"
The Streets was probably my first experience of actually listening to lyrics properly.
Idlewild are just amazing. When I heard American English for the first time - wow! Got me properly into Idlewild, still one of my favourites to this day.
OLP are one of my favourite bands as well. Gravity as an album just struck a chord with me.
The Cribs - well, everyone should love The Cribs.
Kid A is a fanatastic album. I didn't really get into Radiohead until fairly recently, but I love them now.
Refused came out
in 1998.
Tough but:
The Unicorns- Who Will Cut our hair when we're gone
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Roots Manuva - Run come save me
Clap your hands say yeah - self titled
Radiohead - Hail to the thief
The Rakes - Capture/Release
bah

I nominate At the Drive In in that case
My Top 6 (*Sigh*)

2. Sleater-Kinney: The Woods
3. The Microphones: The Glow Pt. 2
4. Secret Machines: Ten Silver Drops
5. Autolux- Future Perfect
6. KaitO- Band Red
After the top 3, this proved to be a most unpleasant task. I won't go into debating favorite bands of mine that may have been slighted, but if Brian Wilson's "Smile" counts, then it should replace one of those.
In no particular order...
Primal Scream - XTRMNTR (2000??)
