Oasis expect to have finished recording their new album by December, according to frontlad Liam Gallagher.
Speaking to Billboard.com on Tuesday, Gallagher Jnr said that the record, the act’s seventh, is scheduled for release next August – adding that there was no way the band would be ‘doing a Radiohead’.
Over his “dead body” were the decisive words among other, ruder ones. The Billboard report then goes on to claim that “Liam declined to reveal the titles of his songs, but said they are pugnacious in spirit” which flies in the face of early quotes from the singer denying that the new tracks would be ‘truculent’, ‘bellicose’, or ‘supercilious’.
Anything else? Apparently the record compares “without a doubt” to the seventh records of acts like the Beatles (‘Revolver’) and the Rolling Stones (‘Beggars Banquet’), qualifying the bold claim with the explanation that:
"There's lots of cool parts, man. Really, we're throwing everything at it. It's gonna be cool, man.”

Is there any way
we can stop them?
i'm over all this mocking Oasis
as of about 9 months ago. I just grew out of it i guess. They're a big part of a lot of music fan's childhoods, and now a lot of these people distance themselves from Oasis by taking the piss. (I've done it for years and its easy to do.) It's like having freinds from school who don't fit with your new "cool" friends.
They havnt released a good album or song in 10 years, i havnt bought anything by them in this period. I would never go and see them live.
But i realised that as much as i've slagged them off over the years, i kind of liked that friend from school, even if he was a dick.
In fact when i've seen that friend recently they've been pretty fucking funny, and say a lot of things i agree with, and of course a lot more i don't but i find very entertaining. That friend was a hero to a lot of intelligent people, so its a shame he hung around with the bad crowd because it put a lot of people off him, myself included.
But i'm over it now. I have fond memories from 10 years ago when this friend actually brought us all together on the cusp of adulthood. So i'm letting him off with all the shit he's done in the last 10 years. I'd go for a pint with him and maybe tell him i think he's cool.
...
Good for you. I however didn't know anyone that liked Oasis in my youth and fully expect to continue my streak of Oasis slagging as far into the future as I deem appropriate.
Why? Because they're shit. Completely so. And it feels good.
'Why?'
Its because you know there's some substance there, and that slagging them off seems somehow 'different'.
Lozer
You are special
sorry
zpecial
Being rude and being interesting
are not the same thing.
I'm over it too.
I was 11/12 and I adored them, then they went poo, I loathed them, but you know what? I'd never buy another record by them, but I'm still fond of them. I'm happy they're around, doing their thing and not bothering me. There's far more offensive things around that were never relevant.
I still wont buy the record though.
what
what are they doing between finishing the album in december and releasing it in august?? thats a massive wait.
Yeah, the whole album will've been leaked
by then surely. Maybe even the next one aswell, before they've even made it.
Woo!
Oasis are one of the only current bands I give a shit about.
Hopefully another UK tour will be on the cardz.
Could you possibly try and
defend any of their albums after Be Here Now? Just so I know it can be done.
While you're at it
Defend records 2 and 3 too.
Oasis
Have always been and will always be fucking shit.
There's no need to defend anything
I'll leave that up to idiot sing-along fans, and the band themselves. Thats the entertainment i'm on about, Noel Gallagher's honesty that Be Here Now IS fucking shit. And Liam defending it. Noel Gallagher slagging off 'Standing on Giants' or whatever it was called, but still rating a couple of tunes.
I couldnt give a shit about what Oasis do next musically. But if they finally hit a tune again i'd take notice. Something different. I dont see how though with Noel Gallaghers lyrics becoming worse and worse. Let's not forget that "We the people fight for our existence" song.
So what is it that peeves people off so much about Oasis that they HAVE TO slag them off? That makes them not be able to stop themselves laying the boot in to them?
Its not just because the music has become shit, or that it always has been shit to them. It's the fact that Oasis are still important to alot of people. That they mean something to alot of people. That they still get attention. That they are still totally outspoken and confident in what they do.
this REALLY pisses people off. Like REALLY REALLY does
but i've grew out of it.
I havnt grew out of slagging off the bands we should be laying the boot into though. The Pigeon Detectives, Ripchords, Fratellis, The Views of this world. Bands following the formula. Bands that managers like James fucking Endicott are now awaringly cashing in on. Young bands being manufatured for cheap and pushed on people by handshakes at the NME.
These are the bands we should be worrying about. Our fucking musical surroundings of the future depend on it, even if we are doing our own things
Oui.
At times this forum can be such a sad
& bitter place. If they made a brilliant LP then some of u would not buy and support it. That astounds me. Yeah so they have not made a decent record for near on a decade but they have inspired a hell of lot of bands that have. And imo they still can deserve an ear...

My only wish with Oasis
is that they would just emulate their heroes such as the Stones. ie Do big sell out tours for their fans who are happy to see them, and if they do release new product just to let it sink or swim on its own merits.
But every time a Gallagher tries to make out that the new record is in some way new, vital, groundbreaking or relevant and it just turns out to be a pale ghost of what they used to be then they make themselves look stupid and out of touch.
Basically, show some dignity guys.
Alex
Ian Brown?
seriously?
They can't
They simply take too many drugs to be able to keep it under control.
Which is why Death In Vegas walked out half way through producing their last (or last one before?) album. They realised getting anything productive done was fucking impossible and moved on to other projects.
They've lost it. If they ever had it in the first place, which is debatable. To me, they're just four massive whingeing eyebrows.
