Mars Volta ready next dubiously titled longplayer

The Mars Volta will release a new album next year.

The band, who presumably choose album titles in the same way Geri Halliwell names her children, have confirmed January 29th as the due date for The Bedlam in Goliath; the follow-up to last year’s Amputechre opus.

Examine calendars or date formats and you'll find 01/29 is a Tuesday - a US release then, and one you'd guess was beaten out by a day in Europe.

Preposterously monikered songs below; John Frusciante’s lost somewhere in that jumble of letters guesting, presumably, on guitar.

'Aberinkula'
'Metatron'
'Ilyena'
'Wax Simulacra'
'Goliath'
'Tourniquet Man'
'Cavalettas'
'Agadez'
'Askepios'
'Ouroboros'
'Soothsayer'
'Conjugal Burns'

Guitarist and noise maker in chief Omar Rodriguez Lopez will again handle production duties.

PLEASE JUST STOP

i cant explain my entirely irrational aversion to even listening to amputechre, let alone this

the songs i've heard have been pretty good.

a LOT more coherent.

...

It is cause you're gay?

Funny article

Appalling band, twats.

No

NO.

This will be the worst record ever made.

well I think it'll

be a return to form, the product of the methican nutbags having an epiphany that really, short songs can be good too. It'll be 12 x 3 minute concise and focused songs that have all the wankery and guitar showmanship watered down and we'll be talking about it as the long-promised successor to Relationship of Command.

Or it'll be a prolonged torture of indulgent guitar masturbation.

please, please, please

don't let it be like the last one.

I reckon this will one will be good

Some of the youtube videos have been promising. It won't top Frances The Mute though. Never.

I just thank fuck

that cds are still only 76 minutes or thereabouts. These lads would happily produce a 5hour album I reckon. Yet strangely, I still kind of love them.

I cannot overstate

how much I hate these men's "music"

But they are the only band

who both do handstands and soundlike pinky and perky.

Twats.

I love this band

not so impressed by amputechre, but god deloused and frances are SO GOOD.

Still, wouldn't say no to an at the drive in reunion, anyone?

Like most, it seems

I wasn't too keen on Amputechture.
But De-Loused and Frances The Mute were ace.
Generally, a bit less wankery would be nice. I doubt you're ever going to get a completely focussed album out of Omar, anyway.
Even ATDI fell into it from time to time.
Another One Armed Scissor would be nice, though.

Do they just jot down the names

of other World Of Warcraft users who happen to be online at the same time as them and save them for future song names?

Sparta FTW

STOP PRESS!

Mars Volta uses strange words and plays 'weird' music. How many times can this article be written?

I like them

I've never really listened to Amputechture, despite having bought it ages ago. But Deloused and Frances were fucking fantastic.

Televators is one of the best songs of all time.

fucking awful band hate them so much !!

seen them live too friend dragged me along, 'theyre amazing live' was their words of encouragement, after what felt like 4 and a half days of twiddling jazz-calypso-rock pretentious bollocks , i was on the brink of suicide, i still go to therapy 4 times a week to try and cure of my demons thanks to these bunch of cunts... i hate them, i hate them, i hate them

Wow...

I guess I didn't know I was the only person who's favourite band was The Mars Volta. I'm more excited for this album than I have been for any album ever, and from the sound of the three leaked songs, it should be another masterpiece.

Yay!

Another good album hopefully.

Amputechture

...was saved by Day of the Baphomets. *Just*.

I do get a kick out of their songs' names though.

'Suchre the Graviton', 'Manta Brachiosaur", "L. Casei Immunitas" etc...

i like the volta

although they are pretentious i do like them

this made me chuckle

Frances the Mute

the review of that on here is a bit (as in totally) off
