The best song from Kaputt, no?»
After a superb, mostly sunny and varied Wednesday and Thursday at Oslo's Middelalderparken, our attentions turned to the final two days. Tired, worn down but not exhausted there was even more to come. Looking at the program, it could have been overwhelming, especially if you had feet the state of mine at this point. But in reality you can't do anything else but open the sun-baked festival with massively open arms.»
New LC! album on the way. November. Hello Sadness.»
Olivia Tremor Control. Remember them? They were part of the Elephant 6 Collective and, like many of that rabble, were pretty damn good. Their last album was over a decade ago and they went on hiatus in 2000, so it's no surprise we haven't heard anything from them since. However, a hiatus is not permanent and they reformed last year and had entered the studio.»
Metronomy's turn now.»
Tom Vek's comeback continues. Following on from Leisure Seizure - his first album since 2005 - there's now a brief spate of UK dates for later in the year.»

Today a review went up for Neutral Milk Hotel's On Avery Island, unarguably the less celebrated of the two albums the band released. That's pretty apt because there's a whole ton of news announced from the band today, and it's all quite exciting (via Pitchfork.»
Back in July we brought you the news that noisy Norwegian types Årabrot were to release a new record, and also news of a download of a track from that record, 'Madonna Was A Whore'. It is perhaps the poppiest and punchiest thing the band have produced in recent memory but was also very, very good. And exciting for what we might receive from the album.»

Following the news of their debut album release the duo of Elizabeth Sankey and Jeremy Warmsley, aka Summer Camp, have confirmed a full-on UK tour. Fairly full-on, anyway. »
The last Girls track we heard was a free download of 'Vomit', taken from their new record. You can listen to and download it from here. It was quite slow to start off with, but then picked up both pace and purpose. There's now another new one, and this one is the band's next single. It's called 'Honey Bunny' and you can have a listen to it here...»
Last week an e-mail/press release was sent round the world telling us that Tom Waits was going to set the record straight. Obviously everyone thought this was going to be a new album, and so it turns out it's absolutely correct. Mr Waits' new full-length is called Bad Me and will be released through Anti- Records on October 24. »
If there's one thing I admire Florence + The Machine for it's for using "+" to symbolise "and" rather than the more commonly used ampersand (&). That kind of typographical daring is to be commended. It is now time to hear something new from Miss Welch. A new track. Presumably taken from her new album or something. It's called 'What The Water Gave Me' and you can watch the video for it here. It is quite funny, in a way.»
A couple of years ago I was quite desperate for Wild Beasts to cover Shakira's 'She Wolf'. Alas, it didn't happen but the Kendal-originating four-piece have now put their fine hands to work on another pop music project, from Lady GaGa. The track in question is 'Yoü And I' and no, I do not know why the 'u' has an umlaut. A lack of any kind of sense is all I can put it down to. »
We report on the first two days of Oslo's Øyafestival, featuring Matthew Dear, Destroyer, Kanye West, Pantha Du Prince, Explosions In The Sky and a ton more.»
Josh T. Pearson's most recent record, Last Of The Country Gentlemen is one of very few records to be awarded a full 10/10 on this website in recent years. That says more than enough, I think. The heavily-bearded man has a couple of new releases on the way. »
Summer Camp were once an enigmatic duo. But that hasn't been the case for a while now. Still, it hasn't really made much difference as they've released a handful of well received EPs and singles over the past year or so. Now they are ready to release their first full-length record which, in our books, can only be good news.»
A few weeks ago it emerged that this year would see a new album from Neon Indian, which would be the follow-up to Psychic Chasms. The new record is called Era Extraña and there was also a free download of a track from it, 'Fallout'. There's now a 21-track playlist floating around, which includes some new tracks, a cover of a T-Rex track and some remixes by the likes of Toro Y Moi and Twin Shadow»
Download a section from a running track from Fujiya and Miyagi.»
As we keep mentioning, we're running a video from Norwegian noise-and-visual-assault-makers KILLL every week until the release of their live CD and DVD combo, which is self-titled, and comes out through Fysisk Format on September, 17. There's a few more of these videos to come yet, but enjoy this one while you can. It's Part III.»
