Digital Hardcore go it alone: label breaks from distributors
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver January 18th, 2006

Digital Hardcore has elected to go it alone in 2006, and will now distribute their own records in a totally DIY fashion.

The following is from DHC HQ:

_“As of January 2006 and thus forth Digital Hardcore Recordings and friends (namely Alec Empire’s Geist label and Andrew Weatherall’s Rotters Golf Club) have taken rather a bold step in this, frankly, fucked up musical climate: we have started to distribute our own records. Does this mean much? Well, yes: it means we no longer have to fight for attention under a glutton of one-hit wonders at our distributors and we have infinitely more flexibility to what, where, how and where we can sell and to whom we can sell to. Anyone can contact us, anyone can join in – we don’t feel like we’re alone in this step; more will join us, doing it their way soon. Labels sell directly to countless digital download stores, so why not mail order kids, why not online stores, why not indie shops, why not you?

"2006 is not only a turning point towards the latter part of the first decade of this new millennium, it is also a huge turning point in the state of the music industry. It is a time for everyone to think clearly and achieve what they want – this can be done in so many ways now, the options are nigh on limitless. We think the way forward after saturation point is to dry off and fight our own way and the responses so far have been incredibly supportive. 2006 will be a good year for those that wish to have it. We thank you for your support over the years and we thank you for your continued support!_

"Love, DHR”

Anyone wishing to 'be a part of it' can get in touch with the label - to purchase goods, or simply to say hi - via their website, here. You can send e-mails to Bradley at the label on bradley(at)digitalhardcore(dot)com.

DHR releases will continue to be available from certain independent outlets, including Norman Records, noisexchange.com and Rough Trade.
