Over the past few years FOMO (the fear of missing out) has been a "trending topic", with various websites, newspapers, and magazines posting click-bait think-pieces about this modern phenomenon. GQ went one step further offering up some helpful cures to this malady.
Whilst FOMO clearly isn't as debilitating as pediophobia (fear of mannequins) or coulrophobia (clowns!), and we doubt anyone is kept awake worrying that they missed our review of the new Interpol album (which is very very good!), we are increasingly aware that things get lost. Like you, we read have sites we like and have acts we love that we'd quite like to know have a new record out, and whether it's any good, and what they have to say about it.
To be fair, we kinda don't blame some of you who only dropping by a couple of times a year to peruse our Recommended Records section, playlists and end of year listicles for a bit of listening guidance.
Of course, you could follow DiS on Google+, Twitter (Follow @DrownedinSound) and Facebook (facebook.com/drownedinsound), however, sadly it's quite likely you will miss our updates amid all the baby/burger updates, ice buckets, quizzes and all of those "opinions" about call centres and Dr Who.
Earlier this year, we decided that it's high time we went back to doing a monthly mailouts to help you digest what we've been banging on about for the past month or so. Sign up below and you will get a monthly playlist, some record recommendations and links to our most read articles. Here is August's mailout as an example of what you can expect.
Please note: We scrapped the old list because, of the 90,000 emails we had, half of addresses were defunct university ones or [insert Placebo lyric here]@hotmails, plus it would cost us £100s to send out emails in a way that they didn't all end up in your spambox.
TL;DR? Please join the new DiS mailing list for playlists, record recommendations and the best of DiS. It's free and we'll not bombard you with nonsense (you'll be lucky if we find time to do a mailout a month) (we promise to try!).
