Something for the weekend...a mix by Kate Wax, maker of a glistening cauldron of bewitching beats that many - including me - are calling one of the albums of the year (if you skip to the end, you can try to win yourself a copy of it...). Here's the verykatewaxesque intro to her mix...
"She has come with a little gun
The beast is beauty
A war inside, I have a friend
Fears lead an armyShe has come with a little gun
The beast is clever
A war inside, I have a friend
Fears lead a fighter”
I'm a pagan prayer, I'm no butcher or Wayne Gacy. But my voice is smallpox, an anthropophage creature that erases the living in my fairy song country, and when the war is over, who else is there? The Badlands are empty. God is a mess and I don't have a TV.
The pain is compulsive as corrupted priests, so i croon with a bunch of bloody prophets, Tom Waits, Syd barrett and I must have forgotten a few pairs of Jim and Jimmy. Don't ask me more, that music is just an escape, a troubled zone, were Kate meet Bonnie, voices melt in a doomed alchemy, it's a walk in the bruises, a run in the dust, a monolith for the Blues, a relief in other's emergency.
PS: Free Tibet.
