More bands for Cardiff's SWN festival, Welsh Music Prize announced
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater September 5th, 2011

The Summer festival season is kind of nearly over. There's Bestival left but that's about it. Festival fun-times do not stop in September, though, as there's always stuff going down in Cardiff, in October, for SWN. It's normally pretty good. The festival which all-round nice bloke Huw Stephens helps organise has just added the following artists to their bill.

Christoper Rees, Clock Opera, Copy Haho, Dancers, Dividers, Famy, Gentle Friendly, Greta Isaac, James McKay, Joe Janiak, Lucy Rose, Mr Phormula, Racehorses, Sam Airey, Saturdays Kids, Seams, Sweet Baboo, The Broken Vinyl Club, Theme Park, Tiger Please, Torches, Two Wounded Birds

They join the previously-announced likes of Herman Dune, Esben & The Witch, The Joy Formidable, The Fall and a handful of others. This year's event runs in various venues around Cardiff from October 20-23. More information can be found here and tickets can be bought here.

HOWEVER, that is not all of the Welsh music related news we bring you. We hate to stick it all into one space, but sometimes these things just happen. The inaugural Welsh Music Prize has been announced, and there are 12 albums up for it. They are...

Al Lewis - In The Wake
Colorama - Box
Funeral For A Friend - Welcome Home Armageddon
Gruff Rhys - Hotel Shampoo
Lleuwen - Tan
Manic Street Preachers - Postcards from a Young Man
Stagga - The Warm Air Room
Sweet Baboo - I’m a Dancer/Songs About Sleepin’
The Blackout - Hope
The Gentle Good - Tethered for the Storm
The Joy Formidable - Big Roar
Y Niwl - Y Niwl

A panel of 10 judges - experts, no less - will choose the winner, to be announced on Friday October 21 during, yes, SWN Festival in Cardiff! More information here.
