There may only be a few people in the world who can still look cool whilst either having thinning hair or being actually bald. Simon Joyner is one such person. Bobby Charlton was just about another. Nick Cave, however, is probably the ultimate, especially when you combine it with his moustache of much brilliance.
Anyway, you'll get a chance to see that moustache and hair live in action later this year, as the Grinderman will play five dates in England and Scotland to support the upcoming release of their second record, Grinderman 2, more details of which are below. Oh yeah, that's a new Grinderman record, by the way!
The group will play these dates:
25/9 - Nottingham, Rock City
27/9 - Leeds, University
28/9 - Glasgow, Barrowlands
29/9 - Manchester, Academy
1/10 - London, Hammersmith Apollo
Grinderman 2 will be released on September 13th and reports from Warren Ellis suggest that it's quite a lot different from the first Grinderman album, which was released in 2008.
Ellis told The Quietus:
"It’s kind of like stoner rock meets Sly Stone via Amon Duul. It’s very diverse, and there’s a lot fos tuff on there that doesn’t sound like anything we’ve done before. Nick’s got a different thing going on with the lyrics than he would have from the Bad Seeds, and he’s found a new thing from the first album. Less sex? I wouldn’t say that. It’s psychedelic, and I think it’s great. We’re really excited about it."
