Johnny Flynn is often marked out as being in that group of British folkies, the ones with a combined age of around a hundred between the lot of 'em. Marling, Mumford, Noah & The Whale, etc. Of that bunch, he is certainly the one who sounds the oldest, a weather-beaten, well-enunciated voice being his trademark.
Anyway, he released his debut album A Larum back in 2008 to reasonable critical acclaim, and late last year released an EP, Sweet William (go to the bottom of this article for a free download of 'Drum'). The good news for Flynn fans is that he'll return with his second album proper on June 7, when Transgressive will release Been Listening. It also features work by the aforementioned Marling as well as Anni Calvi. It'll be available on the usual formats. Tracklisting for it below:
- Kentucky Pill
- Lost and Found
- Churlish May
- Been Listening
- Barnacled Warship
