Beastie Boys' Hot Sauce Committee to get September release (hopefully)
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater March 10th, 2010

It's been a while, guys, but with the Beastie Boys it's no great problem. The trio were due to release their new LP, Hot Sauce Committee Pt 1., in September last year but due to Adam 'MCA' Yauch being diagnosed with cancer, the record and the whole process was understandably put on the back burner until Yauch returned to full health.

But now, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, MCA said that it may now be released in September - a year after it was first due to hit the shelves - depending on how his recovery goes.

He said:

“I feel better. It was touch and go there for a while, but I am finally getting my energy back.”

“It was really disappointing to have to hold the record and postpone the tour, but doctor’s orders. We may or may not [release the album] depending on how my health is come September. We want to but we have to play it by ear.”

So fingers crossed that it's out in September as a) it'll mean MCA's on the road to being A-OK and b) we'll be able to actually hear the new album, which was finished quite some time ago. The plan is, Yauch said, to give the tracks a few more listens and possibly tweaks:

“I was just talking to Adam [Adrock] and Mike [D] today on the phone and we were talking about working on it a bit. We finished the record over a year ago, so we want to take a look at it and re-evaluate and make sure it is what we want to put out there and that we are still happy with it. I don’t think we will change it up too much.”

The last BBoys RAP full-length was 2004's To The Five Boroughs, which wasn't as bad as some people made out. Honestly!
